I don't know how big or old ours are. A few years, I guess. The one in our room has a built in DVD player which got some use, but it will probably become redundant now. I've been stewing over this ever since this Chinese medico dropped this bomb-shell on me. It's the second Chinese Specialist doctor who has tried to rape me financially over the past few years.

Wanted to turn me into a pillow-biter, financially, of course.

The other doctor tried to channel me into his private money-making clinic to pay him $5000 for two kidney stones to be removed. After a heated argument he finally consented to sign a Letter of Referral to a public teaching hospital.

6 weeks later the stones were removed at no cost to me whatsoever. In fact they even gave me sandwiches and cups of tea at no cost to me whatsoever.

But WAIT - there's MORE: Within the next three years I needed more stones removed .... This Chinese conman could have milked me for a motsa, all told.

And

now

I have another oriental medico planning to squeeze me for $6000 at her private clinic.

Being the ultimate capitalists, the Chinese regard money as being essential to social prestige, aggrandizement, status in the community, 'face', self-worth, etc etc WAY beyond the values given to wealth that Western culture endows it with.

And sooo ... She's set me up to be another lamb for the slaughter.

She's got a disappointment coming to her. She said I'll need the cataracts removed in around 4 years from now.

And sooo ... as there's a 2 year waiting list for cataract removal in public hospitals, I'll be registering with a hospital in two years time.

I can't wait to see her face when she finds out ...
