How old is your TV set?
May 16th, 2015 at 11:16am

I bought mine on 30 May 2002 at Retravision for $1500.

TC-80V95A

13 years and as crystal clear as when I first bought it.

When I bought it it needed a Set Top Box, but technology now means the DVD-Player you plug into it has its own STB.

Down at the TV repair shop in my local area it's literally wall-to-wall with a score of flat-screen LCD and Plasma TV's needing expensive repairs.

My only regret is that it can't handle a USB flash drive to play movies etc on it.

Under no circumstances 'dump' the Cathode Ray Tube TV set. If you get 'Home Invaded' - give them the flat-screen jobs but NOT the CRT one.

Those small flat-screen TVs of yours might last awhile. The ones I saw cluttering up this guy's workshop were all whoppers.

I LOVE advances in technology.

You lucky devils will soon be able to enjoy 3D TV ~ something I'll be missing out on because I'm blind in one eye ... (not that there's anything wrong with that, of course ... unless you're cyclopsophobic, that is ... )

Seven year old plasma. I don't use my DVD players anymore. I run the HDMI cable from the laptop for discs and internet content.

I have a 20 inch flat screen tv that I watch my dvds in my bedroom, hooked up to my cd player for surround sound quality, whilst I lay in bed.

I also have a 26 inch flat screen television that I watch the free to air tv, out in the lounge room.

I have bought myself a Blu Ray player last year, that I consider an early Christmas present to myself. However, I'm still trying to get myself motivated to clean my bedroom enough to rearrange the stereo and replace the old dvd player. Intention is to hook the dvd player up to the lounge television, and use the blu ray for the bedroom television.

I suppose Marna watches her television on her computer? Something that is increasingly common amongst people.

One set is about 3 years old, an LED I think. The only other one is ancient and small, maybe 20 yrs old with a STB.

I'm jealous.

My old crock can't take an HDMI cable and it can't play USB movies.
