Does anyone else have a problem with Kaspersky causing problems for their computers? Everytime I run the internet security, I seem to cause more problems than I have solved. I also have an issue with this "Avira" scan going through my computer that I cannot seem to get free. I have assumed that it is a virus.

My computer is running really slowly for now. I have just installed a limited subscription for Norton to do a security check. But, I will have to figure out if this will be enough when I finish doing the scan.

The labels on my computer applications are blurred. What is causing this and how do I fix them?

Running IObit Malware Fighter (free software) does help fix the problems of the past. But lately, I can't seem to be able to run a full scan.

Any suggestions?

Avira is also a virus checker.

So now you have at least 3 installed.

Kaspersky, Avira and Norton.

Go into your settings and do a program uninstall for each you don't want. Then do a complete reboot.

Depending on the Windows version that will mean a different close down procedure. Google your Windows version for a complete shutdown. That will get rid of any remnants left in memory on the fast restart.

Avira is more trouble than it is worth. I have Norton running that seems to have fixed my computer problems. I will reinstall Norton by the end of the next month. Kaspersky is going to go. Avast was offline for a while -- it was not running. Usually, that has helped fix the problems.

Norton has been big and slow and not much good for years. Just like Macafee.

I have seen spyware actually amend the registry to change the settings for Macafee!!!

On Windows 10 activate the Windows 10 Firewall but NOT the Windows virus scanner.

Then get WEBROOT Secure Anywhere and you won't get any more virus or spyware problems:-

It is NOT recommended to have 2 virus scanners going simultaneously.


Windows 10 Firewall stops rubbish coming in and Webroot stops anything unknown from calling the internet.

Very reliable and very quick - you won't even know when it is operating.

Not like the very slow and clumsy Norton and Macafee virus scanners which grind on for about 20 minutes and slow everything.

Any FREE scanners are just begging for trouble. They might even plant spyware on your machine.

I tried to reset my computer last night, as the computer was practically frozen. But the reset did not reset properly and kept my files and applications. The computer came good, to a certain extent. Does anyone know how to uninstall avira that does not seem to show up in the programs list?

Avira does not show in any lists to be able to uninstall. It shows up on the program list when I hit the start button and shows the folder. Or I can right-click the mouse to execute programs to see that a list including "Scan selected files with Avira". Currently checking the folder in a search now.

Otherwise, I get the occasional three-blips noise that happens before the avira pop-up emerges.

I used Glarys the other week. It did not remove anything. I was using Powerful Uninstall to remove what I could find in the folder. But the uninstall went for 99% of the uninstallation. Then it just paused. Usually, when there is a slight pause, it is only for a few minutes. This one lasted for hours and has not uninstalled the rest.

Seriously? Control panel -> programs(etc) ->right click ->uninstall. What version of Windows? If that fails, which I doubt, install it again then remove. Just please don't tell me someone snuck in and poisoned your PC.

Personally if I was a Windows user I'd just stick with Defender.

I made the mistake of installing the program in the first place. But I had trouble trying to uninstall the program via the usual uninstall processes. Then I went about uninstalling with "Powerful Uninstall". Then I went about trying to get rid of the folders by deleting the folders.

No luck. I had to find out how to undo the problem of having that "Luke Filewalker" show up on the screen every few minutes and slow my computer. A search on google meant that I could find the way to just disable. I am not familiar with the functions of computers. When I was told to use msconfig and then navigate to disable the program, I was both happy and angry with myself. Angry that I was not wise enough by now to figure this out for myself a while ago. Happy that I no longer have to put up with the problems.

If you are talking about avast i had some nasty problems with it too a while back. Dont remember what i did though. Prolly a restore.

I tried a restore to get rid of Avira. It did not work. Avast is pretty good and a program I like to use. Sometimes I have to shut that Avast off to watch movies online without hassle.

You only have to go shut off the program in the task manager so that it does not load.

The issue was with Avira. Avira ran up my CPU to 100%. Finding ways of uninstalling Avira was something I wanted to do in the last few months. But, now, it was just a matter of disabling the program from loading. All fixed.

I got the blue screen of death in the years of long past. That was from having a couple antivirus programs running in tandem. Computer salesmen have told me to not worry so much about getting internet security. There are plenty of free programs out there that does near the same job as the paid ones. And Windows 10 is alleged to have a secure enough protection built-in. But, I would not be too sure about that.

I have found out that I have to disable the program everytime I boot up the computer. Somehow, I will have to find out how to permanently delete the avira program.

Thank you, Nemo, for that. I already knew about that registry tool remover for avira. But, I doubt that I successfully downloaded the tool because of avira preventing me proper internet surfing.

Install "free" virus spyware software at your peril as it may well install spyware.

It is not "free" for no reason as they probably scoop up various bits and pieces from your browsing and email and give it to advertisers.

The really evil software logs your passwords and any bank details for a future hit.

WebRoot spyware and virus software detects these pirate programs BEFORE you even install them and warns if you try to access a bad internet site.

On Windows 10 you should ALWAYS do a Windows backup so you can then easily recover your damaged machine.
