We can't have Christmas because it is offensive to non-christians. We had a piece the other day about Anzac Day being offensive to someone or other. We do have culture its just not so evident to us because we are subjective. To other ppl in the world they can see it. As for xmas - that isnt australian. Not sure what the hullabaloo is about anzac day but i tell you what calling them "anzac cookies" pisses me right off.

Well some people need to start understanding that. Ive lost count on the amount of times Ive been called a Nazi on this site. Ive never in my life shaved my head, i don't have any Nazi memorabilia. but i have done some research into the reasons behind the great world wars both sides. And Hitler was not the crazed killer our education system teaches us. Only thing he is guilty of is trying to keep his country together, we fought 2 wars against them. won both wars. and in the end(Today) Germany is back in economic control of Europe. only difference is that a different group of people or should i say banks, are in control. And calling a group of people racist because of the views they hold, is like walking up to an old friend you haven't seen in years and the first thing that comes out of your mouth is "Your Bald" Like hey haven't you noticed..

So any white person who expresses any kind of pride in their heritage is a "nazi"? Are you really so stupid as to believe that the entire nazi ideology had no other features other than white supremacy? Who did they go to war against? Was it blacks? No? What about Asians? No..they allied with them. What about beaners? Naaaa...hmm odd that an ideology based entirely on white supremacy shoudl war with only other whites. Seems kinda...counterproductive.

I suppose if you can conflate those two, you'd also conflate an african drumming troupe with the hutu militia? Perhaps the people down at the local Bosnian club are just using their bingo nights as cover for their plot to unleash another round of ethnic cleansing?

I am talking (as the title of the thread implies) about australia. Within australia i dont think there should be any segregation. within other countries they can do what they want but should prolly keep their own cultures.

multiculturalism is segregation.

We invite people from all over the world to come here and bring their culture with them. The easiest way to do this is by residing in areas were similar cultures abound. Most of our big cities have areas where one particular culture is prominent. But alot of these are old, large communities.

So many different people, from all over, trying to fit in now.

I know we are a country founded on multiculture, but in the past people came to forge a new country, there was work and delevlopment and opportunity, in the cities and on the land.

Now it seems we bring people in becuase we have to maintain a certain world recognised program or we need more people beacuse we need to grow and expand for economic reasons.

Cultures clash, always have, always will.

What is acceptable grounds for segregation of people from other countries (ie selective, discriminatory migration policy)?

The topic is multiculturalism = the mixing of different cultures that come from elsewhere with local culture and customs.

Uhhh. Not sure of your question there. Especially since I already said I disagree with the segregation within australia.

As for the topic yeah I know what the friggin topic is i started it. I gather from the 2nd post in the thread though that multiculturalism policy is to segregate these migrants into their own little cultures not mix them in. This I am opposed to. This is the cause of all the strife between "cultures" within australia in my opinion. Mixing is fine. Keeping it separate is not.
