Well, that will be interesting.  They have had the Royal Commission.  Pell named.  Pell charged...tried many times...ultimately acquitted.  Reckon it is time to forget prosecuting Pell.  Several shots have been taken.  All missed.  Move on.

Maybe but my point still stands. Its basically a yep, make sure there are no witnesses you'll get away with anything.

Not true. Physical evidence has convicted many. With or without a witness. In Pell's case there was no physical evidence.

It was one person's word against another's.

Very strange.

OK, so can I clarify then, make sure theres no physical evidence, no witnesses, get away with anything. EAnd my point about this whole decision putting doubt in anyones mind wishing to come forward with allegations still stands.

Pell didn't give evidence.

There's a 42 minute video of him being interviewed by police in which he denies everything.

Plus, he pleaded not guilty.

That's the way it is. All unsolved murders and every other crime are fine examples. The case has always needed to be proven beyond reasonable doubt. It wasn't, 7 judges and Justice Weinberg agreed.

dna has made a huge difference... I wouldnt take no witness as an example of getting away with anything...

how many priests have been charged with sexual abuse   since the Catholic Church as paid compensation???????...not old... but new cases of abuse?.....that has to be important as well...have any priests been moved on over and over again  as they did years ago??????...

if it has stopped that has got to be a good thing...

I am sure many children that have experienced anything like this would now know they have help and would speak up much quicker than they did in the past...

You have forgotten the first Jury...who could not reach a verdict.  In any event, this is not a numbers game.  Pell was wrongfully convicted, plain fact.  Beyond reasonable doubt means exactly that.  There was ample doubt.

Or they could be thinking holy bugger did no one see the trial?

Cheers, thanks for reminding of it. I wasn't in the trial and neither were you.
