Sure, but Mr Trump wanted to avoid all those fights with umbrellas he's had lately. Besides, Melania doesn't fit under his umbrella.

How could he possibly attend a ceremony for American WWI soldiers under these conditions? Merkel, Macron and Trudeau were all there. Mr Trump was with them in spirit. What's wrong with that?

Anyway, that ceremony cut into his executive time. Mr Trump is busy running a country, you know. He obviously had more important things to do.
