Not exactly true......Americans will protect the Right to Keep & Bear Arms with their life, so they can protect their lives, the lives of their loved ones, & their possessions.

The Right to Keep & Bear Arms allows law-abiding citizens to exercise their fundamental right of self-protection, in the manner that best suits their needs......& the Freedom to choose which best suits is their Right, & not the Governments, since 1791.

In America over 20 - 24 million people die from all causes each & every year.....close to the total population of Australia.

12,000 killed by firearms = less than .0006% of all deaths......even if that increased fourfold, that would still equal less than .0024% ..... or less than 1/4 of 1% of all deaths in America.

Give up the Right to Protect your own life, the lives of your loved ones, & your possessions for less than 1/4 of 1%..............yer daft, & Americans would never go for that!

BTW.....if you subtract suicides .... ±60% ..... (people who took their own lives.....in some cases did society a favor by removing their sick selves from the ranks of the living) the number would be lower.

Also, those justifiably killed by law enforcement, who they fired upon first, or criminals killed while committing a crime......

Also, those justifiably killed by those armed citizens they were attacking, or who came to the aid of another.....etc....etc.....the number you tout in the attempt to somehow shock me (you failed)......your number would be drastically lower still, if you removed everyone other than those murdered by firearms......those that didn't actually deserve to die, the number would be pale in comparison than what you tried to have is believe.

Actually you are right yo ucan. When we have too many deaths due to car crashes, we improve the safety of the cars, change speed limits, improve road surfaces. Drugs kille people? We remove it from the market.

No wonder they didn't include suicides, because you aren't actually quoting firearm deaths, just firearm incidents.......So far this year this only represents 3,115 actual deaths.....

I was under the impression we were having a banner year!!!

It's only 3,115 deaths, not 11,462 deaths.......that's a whole nother kettle o fish!!

Extrapolated out that comes to only about ± 10,000 to 12,000 firearm fatalities a year.....about average.....normal.
