Got the names of climate scientists making those predictions? Thought not.

You wanted names; you got them. I am not going to go full bibliography for you.

You are supposed to be a scientist. Act like one instead of an activist.

Snow had become more rare in southern England when I arrived there in Dec 1978—as my uncle advised. A sled he had bought for his youngest son remained in the shed—not enough snow.

So like Richard Flannery I suspect this is a quote taken wildly out of context. The original article containing the quote is no longer online.

We had the beast from the east, we had 52" of rain in one week in Houston last year etc and Lees says there is no extreme weather? Arctic melting in the middle of winter not extreme? Plenty of powerful hurricanes hit the Caribbean and Florida last year. Plenty of extreme weather.

That must be why it has been removed. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

It has however been quoted by the Daily Telegraph.

"The Independent, 2000:

Snow is starting to disappear from our lives. Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain's culture, as warmer winters – which scientists are attributing to global climate change – produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries … Global warming, the heating of the atmosphere by increased amounts of industrial gases, is now accepted as a reality by the international community … According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become "a very rare and exciting event". "Children just aren't going to know what snow is," he said. "

Now you have said a warmer world is a wetter world, more precipitation. I guess he just doesn't know what he is talking about.

" we had 52" of rain in one week in Houston last year"

Wow. A hurricane that sat motionless over a city for how many days?

Jovial Monk wrote on Apr 23rd, 2018 at 4:37pm:

Nope. You are deliberately misinterpreting what I said.

Jovial Monk wrote on Apr 23rd, 2018 at 4:37pm:

Yes Four in one hit. And even that had been done before. So not unprecedented.

...

Plenty of extreme weather. But is it more extreme, more often or something else.

Think like the scientist you are supposed to be.

Funny, that is what I said, sledges staying in the sheds.

52" of rain in one week is extreme weather.

What Booby did not do: argue the points I raised. All temperature charts show global temperatures INcreasing and polar ice DEcreasing. An ice age now is ludicrous.

Yes. Of course you went on to say "and Lees says there is no extreme weather?"

Of course you can show where I actually said it?

You know a reference post?

I know it is something you dislike doing, probably because you have trouble getting it right. Wink

The very early melt on the SE coast of Greenland has retreated to one spot.

More bullshit from Lees.

Why do you post here, Lees? Does AGW frighten you so much?

What? 1ºC warming in over100 hundred years PARTIALLY attributed to CO2; and it is supposed to be scary? Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I think it scares you. 1.2°C is bringing about huge changes, melting of the poles for example.

OK, if not your obvious fear of AGW, why do you post in this thread?

To correct your misstatements eg

No volcanoes under the Arctic
Slowing Gulf Stream based on models but directly refuted by NASA observations.

You just have to put your climate activism above your scientific integrity. Cry

No, that is not the case.

Quite frequently you babble. You need to dispel the fear of AGW even with no relevant information, no paper from WattsUp or whatever denier site to hand and you babble.

The slowing of the AMOC is real. The use of models is not the same as saying the conclusions are wrong, with a matter as vast and complicated as weather and climate the use of models is inevitable.

One pointer to your fear, frequently saying “oh scary. . .” yeah, I believe it is scary to you.

So—why do you post here?
