Light.....are some beings more beloved than others?  Is there a beloved caste system?

Where do you think I rate in this caste system you have imagined? Where do you rate yourself?

I could not care less in either case.  I was, obliquely,  making a point to Mr Light but he was not onto it.

But why worry if you don't make a difference?
Is it not sufficient unto the day that you get it off your chest?

Who makes a difference anywhere? The river of history flows on imperturbably to its ultimate destination.
Take joy in your opportunity to witness it, to occasionally have gratitude for where it sometimes passes, to be intrigued by its relentless ebb & flow, for it is influenced by very few and even then only fleetingly.

Thanks for the laugh bogarde and you are right. I only meant that a long time ago Feedback occasionally discussed netiquette. I used to like giving my opinion, but it doesn't matter anymore. Online discussions have changed a lot in the last decade. People aren't so polite to each other. They don't want to be - so you haven't got a hope in hell of trying to encourage better behaviour.

A few people here get away with so much. I don't post often simply because some members are liked - others aren't and if you fall into the latter basket - you don't have a chance of making a difference.

You have to be so careful about how you use your words. No matter how much you try and condense them - a few simple words seem to upset some people. You don't have to swear, use obscenities or personally abuse people - just the mere thought that there might be a hint of critisism in your post is enough to send those people with influence off to the admin or Gmods with a complaint.

Feedback has become a farce. There are no real compaints there about any serious problems with this site.  The people who predominantly post there have been regularly banned and then of course there are the socks who can post there with impunity and continually post about trivial issues. Why is that?

Is Ozpolitic only a message board as Lisa Jones used to proclaim persistently? Is Feedback now only for the disgruntled who personally don't like another member regardless of their own rocky history here? It's sad to see some of the basic principles of this board change to accommodate a minority with influence.

If I've offended anyone - my sincerest apologies. It wasn't intentional.

I am sorry you feel this way Mantra, and it's good to read you on forum again. Also, I understand the point you make... Too much denigration of the person and not enough discussion on the point being made by that person. I agree with you, when it's a serious discussion. However, on lightweight subjects, a little mischief should be expected.

Nice to see you posting again Nom De Plume. Sometimes there seem to be too many "lightweight subjects" on these forums. I've always thought that one liners and insults were a waste of cyber space.

It seems to only affect those people who like to read a thoughtful post and as they appear to have become a minority - so be it.

I think thats how most members here feel  mantra.......

its mostly used by people who really have nothing to offer the community...their quest is not to debate !   just to attack the membership.....I think it makes them feel important.... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

no matter how serious a subject   in they come with the negatives....I have got angry many times over it  but I never seem to win  in the end the thread shuts down......it can be very frustrating.....but lets not give up!
