I didn't say you're a waiter - I asked if you ever take more than just the tip.

I haven't spent a lot of time in France, so I'll take your word on the service compris.

In Italy, Austria, Slovenia, etc. they expect a tip most of the time.

Seeing as the workers there don't have the protections we have here in Australia, I always tip (as is the custom).

It's not the custom here, though, and if people continue to do it, it will eventually result in worse conditions for our low paid workers.

I left 4 x 50ml bottles of mixed spirits for the garbos fot xmas this year and I always tip low wage earners when I can.

Garbos earn a lot more than a checkout chick, pharmacy assistant, or fast food worker.

So, why don't you tip at Coles, Soul Pattinson, and McDonald's?
