I feel the same way about anyone in trouble. Saving an infant from a burning building- fire department. Defending a woman against domestic violence-the police. Assisting a car crash victim-paramedics. Helping a motorist who has broken down in a busy intersection-tow truck drivers. Wiping up your own urine when you p.i.s.s on the seat-cleaners. Picking up your rubbish-Ian Kiernan. I hear you friendo.

I think it's exactly the other way around - governments are involved in too many things that volunteers should be doing.

I charge whichever Union sends them to me.
