1. A colloquial term used by the skinhead subculture to indicate enthusiasm, or greeting.

2. A subgenre of punk rock that originated in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. The music and its associated subculture had the goal of bringing together punks, skinheads and other working-class youth.
Etymology
Originally used by the London working class, or speakers of Cockney slang.
Believed to be derived from Yiddish-speaking Jews, who emigrated from Europe in the late 19th century and were influential in the London music halls of the early to mid 20th century.
The term became used by audiences at sporting matches and was copied by groups of Australian spectators in the late 20th century, culminating in the 2000 Olympic Games.
