I found out the hard way how protective dogs get with other pets. Our original cats started to realise how the family dog was a protector to them. When confronted by a neighbourhood cat in a challenge, the eldest cat we owned was in a situation of readying herself for a beating. Our dog pushed passed me as I went to go rescue the cat from the confrontation. The dog chased off the other cat and went back to reassure our cat with a quick lick on her head. It was that morning that our cats had decided that our dog was respectable.

My parents' current set of dogs have become loving protectors of their adoptive parents. You can't get upstairs without them identifying you from previous visits. Or, they give a set of warning barks to make sure you knew the gravity of the situation.

A Chinese man found his adorable 'missing' kitten hidden under his dog's ear.

Qi Le, who lives in the city of Yingkou City, Liaoning, gently lifted his Golden Retriever's floppy ear to reveal the snoozing ginger kitten.

He had searched everywhere for the kitten, only realizing where it might be hiding after spotting a strange movement under his dog's ears.

This news made my day, this cat and dog are really adorable.

He is still considered as a puppy the reason I have tried to set up a boundary to ensure his safety.

We taught our new kitten to accept the dog in the house. The kitten took the dog to be her new parent/protector. The dog went absolutely bat-schitt crazy for the kitten. The dog became the kitten's protector in no time. He even took to taking the kitten up and down the stairs when the kitten needed.

Upon the dog's death, the cat was mourning his death for a while. The interesting thing is that our dog also mourned the death of the former house cats we had. I mentioned the passed cat's name to the dog. The dog had a think about it and then started whimpering. I mention the dog's name to the cat, weeks after the dog had died, the cat got mournful.

Dogs and cats are such intelligent creatures.
