Im more interested in Aluminium/lithium air battery tech. that's the game changer.

British researchers just finished testing a alu/O2 thats retains 95% of its capacity after 100 charge/discharge cycles.

It has an energy density comparable to gasoline, since electric is so much more efficient from thermodynamic standpoint its effectively twice as good.

Haven't time to check right now but I'm almost sure that Aluminium - air batteries are not rechargeable.

The battery could last many years in a charged state(depending on construction) and is 100% deep cycle.

100 discharge cycles isn't a time frame, rather a measure of how often they can be recharged- A lithium battery can get around 500 cycles before hitting the wall.

Its a big step up over previous aluminum/air tech batteries which could only manage a single discharge cycle before the anode got gunked up and they stopped working(which is what Crocodile is referring to).

They are rechargeable only mechanically-by replacing the aluminium.

Battery storage is the subject of major confusion amongst energy suppliers. If we ever get to the stage of energy trading by domestic generators, then batteries will become really viable. Until then, we'll have to wait until the suppliers catch up..

what are you talking about. The CSIRO used supercaps in its hybrid E-Commodore way back in 2000 when it was subsequenly mothballed into a Museum because Holden said the public were not ready for it so kept making gas guzzling Commodore heaps of sh.t !!
