Best free forum Software

Well I have evaluated a few of the forums software types including

Yabb forum as used here

phpBB as used on the site we are not allowed to mention according to Aussie

SMF Forum

My opinion is SMF is by far the best and easiest to use, has multitudes of mods that even I can use. It is even easy to modify unusual mods for your own site

Your thoughts?

Why bring me into that crap? It was not me who was making the demands and issuing threats recently. It was the GMod, perceptions now.

YaBB has some serious shortcomings which I keep butting up against with the member run boards. PHPBB gives you much finer control, but has a steeper learning curve. I am not sure if the extent of the layout modifications I have done here would be possible with PHPBB.

Thanks Freediver,

I am playing around with SMF again ( also php based), I used it years ago and used many of their mods. Crashed it numerous times in the process but managed to solve the problems which usually related to clashes between the different mods. Usually only involved slightly altering the mod load files.

I have MCSE's since NT-4 MCP's and MCTS's plus CNA with prior engineering qualifications. Still don't care much.
