Having said that I can explain the mumps outbreak too. We know already that memory in immunity wears off as we age. Many vaccines don't confer life-long protection, the memory does wear off, which is why we require boosters of the vaccine.

So even though students had had two vaccines, the standard at the time was that their last MMR shot was at age 4, more than likely in these patients the memory has worn off so they lack immunity.

1. They used Wakefields report in the ruling, this paper has been retracted for dodgy science.
2. This is the same court system that decided geologists were culpable of manslaughter for failing to predict earthquakes and volcanoes
3. Courts rely on giving both sides of the debate equal validity, which is not the case scientifically
4. This decision was overturned for being BS in Feb this year

I've made no comment on whether this finding is a good one, or a bad one.

I've made no comment on whether people should vaccinate, or not vaccinate (I never would - it's their decision).

Informed choice, and more questions. That's what I like.

First issue, seems to be that theres no linkage. All they are listing is reports of autism that spontaneously occur around the time of the vaccination. Now what that means is anyones guess. It could be get vaccine, 6 months later diagnosis of autism.

Secondly, even if the link between autism and MMR was clear, its 5 cases in 11 years of giving the dose of MMR, of which the authors suggest could be between 18-72 million (depending on how well schedules are followed)

So whats that a 1 in 3.5-15 million chance of gaining autism from MMR? And thats on the assumption its a causative factor.
