Gun Control Australia caught telling lies

Gun Control Australia refused to answer how many members they had at the recent senate inquiry, according to their facebook page they have around 500 supporters.

They tell quite a few lies on that website,here are 2 lies to begin with.
1.Those subject to AVO can still get access to their firearms.
2.Licences are no longer revoked for good behaviour bonds.

11.general restrictions on issue of licences
(5) A licence must not be issued to a person who:
(c) is subject to an AVO or who has at any time within 10 years before the application was made,been subject to such an order.
(d) is subject to a good behaviour bond,whether entered into in NSW or elsewhere

If your licence is revoked due to AVO or good behaviour bond the Police know what guns you have and confiscate them.
You can surrender your guns to a firearms dealer before licence is revoked for them to sell,the dealer informs the firearm registry they have taken legal possession and ownership of firearms.
When the guns have been surrendered to a dealer for sale you need a Permit to Acquire issued by the Police before the gun dealer will return your guns.

Roland Browne from Gun Control Australia was told he had a profound level of ignorance with gun laws at the recent senate inquiry.

Why do you keep assuming that the laws of NSW are the be all and end all of Gun Legislation?

Why do you assume that a website is up to date?

Do you really want to compare the lies the gun nuts have told over the years with what the gun grabbers claim? Remember, we're supposed to have had streets running with blood, revolution, invasion and criminals murdering us in our beds according to your lot Baron!!!!! Grin

The laws on revoking firearm licences for good behaviour bonds and AVO's come from the Firearms act 1996.

All states in Australia revoke firearm licences for AVO's and good behaviour bonds.

The Greens want to reduce the time from 10 years to 5 years if subject to an AVO, the Liberal Democrats who have a reasonable gun policy say you should never have a firearm licence if you have been subjected to an AVO.

Taking guns from honest law abiding citizens does not remove gun crime.

Criminals, by nature, have and always will have access to guns.

The buy back was an abject failure, Oh we have had no more Port Arthurs, that's a given, but we didn't have any before Port Arthur, did we?

And is it not better to teach safe and responsible gun use, rather than prohibiting guns so that when a kid gets his hands on one he has no training or common sense.

It would be like not teaching someone the road rules and how to drive and then them getting a car.

I don't like guns at all.
It takes no skill or training to kill or seriously injure someone with a gun and if some moron gets one he can be seriously dangerous.
But, prohibition, legislation and demonizing something does not eliminate the cause, just the symptom.
