I don't tell you about these things to promote Aldi. I tell you about them because I find it such great value and quality that you deserve to know.

Please check out Aldi's cheeses. For a start, many of them are medal winners at shows like the Royal Easter.

I want to tell you today about their Club Cheddar. Now I've eaten club cheddars many times before but the one I got from Aldi last week for the first time is just honestly the best I've ever tasted.
Bugger the cholesterol, it just melts in your mouth and unlike others it doesn't overdo the ripe creamy flavour. The balance is just perfect.

You're a bloody mug if you don't try it.

I haven't tried their high end cheeses but I did buy their basic tasty cheese once and found it did not grill well.    It didn't really grill at all.

I tried some of their Camembert once.  It tasted very nice but the cheese was way too firm for a Camembert.  I'm not sure what went wrong, but it was a bit of a disappointment.

check out woollies select cheese..

I hate it the way they are pushing their "Select" range in by limiting other brands..

they used to have a number of tasty cheeses but last time I was there it was down to two..

black person and Select...

so I decide to try they Select "Extra Tasty" because I wanted a large pack of sliced cheese and they didn't have it in black person..

the Select is from Tasmania.. and boy... it was so tasty...  Smiley

normal tasty - Green Pack
extra tasty - Red Pack..

same price...

Vintage cheese - best
Parmesan in a bag - best.
Club cheddar - best.
Gouda, Swiss - sliced, packaged cheese at its best.
Mozzarella - best

Blue, camembert, brie - very limited, understandably, so not in contention.

Aldi has the best mass produced cheese. It's the top of the mass market stuff.

They will not have a deli section but I do wonder how good that would be. They obviously have a knack for sourcing excellent stuff. An ALDI's Deli could be something very, very good. Honest to goodness quality continental providore with a distinct Northern European accent.

Parmesan in a bag?  I hope you don't mean those bags of ready grated stuff.

There would be something wrong with it if it wasn't.

Aldi cheese dept

Thought this was going to be about their cheese pricing trick that was commented on 60 minutes this week.

Yes come on on dna, reveal all. Was this a Coles or Woolworths sponsored segment on a commercial channel?

This is my favourite of favourites.  Around $7 in Coles and Woolies.  $5 on special.

It's great on crackers with a slice of kiwi fruit.
