Blaming anyone apart from the Muslim community who are failing to address this problem themselves shows that you are also prepared to lay blame for partisan bullshit rather than laying the blame where it belongs.....Blaming the ALP or Tony Abbott lets the Muslim community absolve themselves of responsibility by blaming anyone but themselves.....Moderate Muslims don't need apologists or excuses they need to stand up and take responsibility for what is happening!!!

I'm not so sure its quite so simple .... in the few cases I've read about, the families involved have tried to stop their sons from becoming extremists ... there is only so much someone can do.
These people turn to extremism because they feel alienated from society ... the community as a whole, their families included, need to work together to stop alienating these teenagers (usually when it starts) so that they don't feel they have to turn to extremists to feel like they belong

Usually they only want what every other teenager wants, to be accepted.

Until the Muslim community accepts there youth are turning to extremism because of Islam and not alienation caused by anyone opposing terrorism the problem will continue to fester.....By blaming Israel, Abbott, Shorten, Obama or anyone else for standing up to terrorism you become an apologist for Islam and help drive youth to extremism who swallow this garbage.....The left are quick to condemn Israel and the Coalition of the willing for there failures and atrocities which is fair enough but then they become apologists for Islam and terrorists by making excuses for their actions.....Islam must accept that it is part of the problem and people need to stop making excuses for Muslims who are using apologists as a crutch to avoid their own failure to accept responsibility for their own actions!!!

Huh Huh Huh

I'm not making excuses for anyones actions, however, I just don't think blaming Islam is the answer ... Religion is just a tool used for recruitment purposes.

The problem with Islam as I see it (and I am certainly not an expert in the Islamic religion)  is that any pshychotic megalomaniac is free to interpret any passage as they want ... at least with the christian religions, there is a head of the church that will ultimately dictate how the church interprets a certain passage

I agree with that comment John and believe religion that is corrupted becomes the tool for extremism.....So to excuse these religions and lay blame on other external factors allows religious leaders to ignore the influence of their own faith in radicalisation.....We have seen excuses made for Islam, the Catholic Church and other denominations who blame individuals whilst accepting no responsibility religion has played in allowing atrocities to happen.....Until religion accepts it has played a part in extremism it will not address the problem and continue to blame everything else accept its own failures.....Good religious people need to accept their own faith is under attack and stop accepting excuses to absolve themselves of any responsibility!!!

Huh Huh Huh

A person may cause evil to others not only by his action but by his inaction, and in either case he is justly accountable to them for the injury.

To the worried and alarmed here at OP I'd like to call for calm. Repeat after me and you'll feel a lot better:

1. Diversity is our strength
2. Multiculturalism will enrichen the tapestry of the Australian way of life.

Say those mantras every hour. Do the harbor bridge climb and when you reach the highest point sing out those mantras with a strong stentorian voice. Keep screaming them out until the police come and force you to retreat. Run through the train and shout it out at your fellow passengers. Hurl it at the bus driver. Invite the cab driver to join you as you scream it out.

I'll bet you're feeling better already.

The ALP, the progressive party, the party of ideas, the workers' friend, is the only Australian political party to roast four young Australians in roof cavities. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!

Yeah.  And while you're doing that, watch your back

Wouldn't put it past our fake puppet government to use the 'muslim crisis' as cover

for bringing in those 50,000 Africans

which jewish MP Danby promised Israel he'd be delighted on our behalf to accept and present to 'our' supposed Parliament

All there in Jewish News

Funny it was the UK news which featured a photo of the gargantuan, shirtless African brought down in Sydney CBD late last week while he was trying to car-jack someone

Funny I didn't see it in the Australian junk, Kardashian-addicted, garbage news

And funny the cops were terrified of the African being photographed as he was handcuffed and led away, to the point they were gesturing for bystanders not to film it

Funny almost every house in Orange NSW is up for sale right now

So keep your eyes open

our USrael 'friends' have more than floods of muslims in store for Oz

Why did we have "terrorist" arrests and prosecutions
under Labor with no grandstanding and no deaths yet within a week of dipshit coming on the TV and spreading his race hate we have a child shot dead.

First of all, he wasn't a "child". Second of all, it's nothing to do with race hate and it's not even religious hate. Lastly, Shorten or Rudd or Gillard couldn't find their arse with both hands and a map, let alone a terrorist.

But history says under a Labor government they found the perpetrators and prosecuted them accordingly, minus all the palaver , minus the innocent Muslims being caught up in persecution, and minus any teenagers being terminated, that's how a cultured intelligent government goes about it.

Another thread by whinging rightards.   for goodness sake, a young man has been shot dead by trigger happy Victorian Police.  If you can shoot him to kill him, why couldn't you shoot to injure/disable him?.    Valueable information on why/how/who etc has been lost that may have revealed his motivation to do thios because once again trigger happy police in Victoria have aimed to kill rather than other methods.

Go back to whining about deaths in rooftops you bunch of sickos.  Have some thoughts and respect for the relatives of this obviously distressed young man who has been slaughtered.

kill while undertaking a deadly assault on police.  Not quite 'slaughtered'.

Where's the concern for the families of the two Police Officers this terrorist tried to murder? Where's the concern for the kids whose Daddies almost didn't come home that night? Your priorities are all wrong, Vic.

What a load of deflecting and condescending Rubbish AP!    I am sticking to the topic of the thread.  If you want to start one that relates to your concerns above, then start one.

From what little I have read about this, this young 18 year old man has undergone some form of mental/physical  change that has led him to undertake this course of action.    He is now dead, so any chance of finding out what provoked this strange form of action is now dead also.     Surely there could have been other forms of action - if not, then the only course could have been the one taken-I'll reserve my right for the inquiry on that

Your politicing of this young man's death, and your thread title is nothing more than political point scoring.  I should not accept anything other though - deaths in ceilngs, people smahed on rocks, asylum seekers drowning are all grist to the mill for many of the righties on here- as long as it scores a cheap shot

Have some compassion and respect for the young man's family

But BigVic, maybe "slaughtered" isn't exactly the best choice of words for avoiding emotive arguments, is it? Maybe a better choice would have been something like "needlessly killed"?
