Islam has a very powerful hierarchy system. It is part of the reason why their religion and politics are nearly inseparable. Even more bizarre is how you keep saying Christianity has a strong hierarchy when in fact it doesn't. The Catholic church certainly does, but protestant churches got hid of a hierarchy system centuries ago. You will not find anyone with supreme power or say in Presbyterian, Baptist, congregation, etc, churches. Instead, they do everything they can to avoid anyone having too much power. Sorry Quantum, if you'd read the whole thread you would have seen that i have already admitted to being a novice on anything Islam .... John Smith wrote on Sep 24 th, 2014 at 10:08am: The problem with Islam as I see it ( and I am certainly not an expert in the Islamic religion ) is that any pshychotic megalomaniac is free to interpret any passage as they want ... at least with the christian religions, there is a head of the church that will ultimately dictate how the church interprets a certain passage As I understand it, a Catholic priest answers to his bishop who answer to his Archbishop who answers to his Cardinal who answers to the pope. However, no such structure exists in Islam ... I understood that any Iman was free to interpret the Quoran as they see fit. I also was led to believe that no formal training is required to become an Iman ... If I am wrong, can you tell me what the structure is and who is the head of the Islamic Church? Bump for Quantum ... or longie? any of you? Quantum? Longie? don't run away ... answer the question you dopey mo rons W-T-F? Some of us don't live on this forum 24/7. I sure as hell don't check and read every single thread to see if someone is nagging for a response. Firstly, there is no head of the Islamic "church" you "mor on". Not unless you mean it in the original Greek sense of an assembly. You would be in a minority though... Secondly, what the hell do you think a Grand Mufti is? Or a Grand Imam? How about a Mujtahid? Why do the Shia Muslims have an Ayatollah? How do you think Sharia Law gets implemented without a leadership structure? How can you not be aware that Islam depends on both the interpretations of writings by those further up the hierarchy to teach the ways of Islamic life, as well as a strong leadership structure to maintain that way of life with its rules and regulations in Islamic communities? How do you think any religion that cannot separate its beliefs and the politics of the community would function without a hierarchy? Look at any Islamic country and you will see the religious leadership structure very clearly. Look at a large Islamic community in the western world (such as many European towns) and you will see a leadership structure trying to maintain power in a foreign land. Stop thinking that the clean shaven trendy Muslim down the street who has never stepped foot in a mosque in his life and is the only sign of Islam in the community, is evidence of no hierarchy leadership structure in the "Islamic church". Stop parroting shlt you have read by an apologist. Maybe read some history instead of thinking that being a altar boy at a catholic church makes you an expert on religion. After that, turn the Tablet/PC/Notebook/whatever off and get some fresh air. Nearly 30,000 posts in two years; 4 of them just to say " answer the question" like no one has anything better to do than educate you. I asked you to name the heirarchy, not to throw out some names ... what is the hierarcy Quantum? After all, you were the one who came out and told me I was wrong and that there is a heirarcy ... what is it? Surely its not beyond you to back your comments? he just backed up his statement. while you simply throw words on a screen thinking no one will notice. no hierarchy? where do you get this crap from? his statement is only backed up if a blind dead idiot is reading it ... I suppose that explains why you are happy with it where is the heirarchy longy? for someone who claims he knows NOTHING about Islam and then has it explained to him, you sure do complain a lot. did you think you were going to make a dumb comment and everyone would just accept it?
