As I understand it, a Catholic priest answers to his bishop who answer to his Archbishop who answers to his Cardinal who answers to the pope. However, no such structure exists in Islam ... I understood that any Iman was free to interpret the Quoran as they see fit. I also was led to believe that no formal training is required to become an Iman ...

If I am wrong, can you tell me what the structure is and who is the head of the Islamic Church?

W-T-F? Some of us don't live on this forum 24/7. I sure as hell don't check and read every single thread to see if someone is nagging for a response.

Firstly, there is no head of the Islamic "church" you "mor on". Not unless you mean it in the original Greek sense of an assembly. You would be in a minority though...

Secondly, what the hell do you think a Grand Mufti is? Or a Grand Imam? How about a Mujtahid? Why do the Shia Muslims have an Ayatollah? How do you think Sharia Law gets implemented without a leadership structure? How can you not be aware that Islam depends on both the interpretations of writings by those further up the hierarchy to teach the ways of Islamic life, as well as a strong leadership structure to maintain that way of life with its rules and regulations in Islamic communities? How do you think any religion that cannot separate its beliefs and the politics of the community would function without a hierarchy? Look at any Islamic country and you will see the religious leadership structure very clearly. Look at a large Islamic community in the western world (such as many European towns) and you will see a leadership structure trying to maintain power in a foreign land. Stop thinking that the clean shaven trendy Muslim down the street who has never stepped foot in a mosque in his life and is the only sign of Islam in the community, is evidence of no hierarchy leadership structure in the "Islamic church".

Stop parroting shlt you have read by an apologist. Maybe read some history instead of thinking that being a altar boy at a catholic church makes you an expert on religion. After that, turn the Tablet/PC/Notebook/whatever off and get some fresh air. Nearly 30,000 posts in two years; 4 of them just to say "answer the question" like no one has anything better to do than educate you.

With all the media hype about the 'teenage terrorist' Fairfax has had to apologise after using the wrong photo

Quote:
Teenager Abu Bakhar Alam 'terrified' after Fairfax mistakenly used his photograph on terror suspect Abdul Numan Haider stories

An innocent young man wrongly identified as teenage terror suspect Abdul Numan Haider says he cannot leave his house because he fears being branded a terrorist.

Fairfax Media has apologised for mistakenly publishing a photo of Melbourne 18-year-old Abu Bakhar Alam on the front pages of The Age, the Canberra Times and the Sydney Morning Herald on Thursday.

The papers ran Mr Alam's photo with headlines including "Teenage Terrorist", "Teen Jihad" and "Teen Takes Terror to the Suburbs", dubbing him a "schoolboy turned fanatic" who "set terror trap for police".

Haider was shot dead on Tuesday night after stabbing counter-terrorism police officers in Melbourne.

Fairfax issued a statement apologising unreservedly to "the young man in the suit" and admitted that Mr Alam had "no connection whatsoever with any extremist or terrorist group".

Mr Alam told Lateline he was "scared and terrified" and fears he and his family may come to harm.

"I know that people are going to recognise me and they might harm me and my family," he said.

"The apology doesn't - it's not going to get that reputation that we had within the community [back]. We've had a good one. We haven't had a bad name."

The Alams lost a family member to a suicide bomber in Afghanistan and in 2007 were given safe haven under Australia's humanitarian program.

"We came here to live - have a happy life, not being - not live in a country where we can't live freely, have the freedom to express ourselves," he said.

Mr Alam said has never uploaded the engagement party photo online and does not know how Fairfax Media obtained it.

He is about to graduate from high school and said he worries "enormously" about how this terrible mistake will affect his future.

Mr Alam told Fairfax Media station 3AW he was considering legal action "because it's not something small".

Family 'haven't heard anything' from Fairfax

Mr Alam's uncle, Ahmad Shah Taniwal, said the family discovered the mistake on Facebook.

"This morning when I wake up - you know people check Facebook - I saw Abubkhar's picture there," he said.

"I said 'maybe it looks like him', then I said 'oh yeah maybe they were mistaken'. Then I called his father. He said 'yeah I'm shocked too'."

To add insult to injury, Mr Alam's family originally came to Australia from Afghanistan as refugees fleeing persecution.

Mr Taniwal said Mr Alam's grandfather was a former Afghan provincial governor who was killed by a Taliban suicide bomber in 2006.

"We came as refugees because my uncle was governor of an Afghan province," he said.

"[He was] killed by a suicide bomber so the Australian government helped us.

"We came here to be safe, now we're on the front page as a terrorist."

Mr Taniwal said he had not spoken to his nephew since the photo was published, but guessed he would be at his job at Hungry Jack's.

"He's probably at work. He studies but it's school holidays so he's probably at Hungry Jack's," he said.

When asked whether Mr Alam knew Haider, Mr Taniwal said: "I didn't even know the family was Afghan. [I] found out last night he was shot dead."

Mr Taniwal said his extended family in Australia and overseas were shocked and distressed by the mistaken use of Mr Alam's photo.

Fairfax declined to comment to the ABC on how the mistake happened, and Mr Taniwal said the company had not been in contact with the family.

"I don't know [how it happened] because we haven't heard anything from The Age," Mr Taniwal said.

Fairfax says it is investigating the mistake.

Although it is an exciting news story bound to sell papers, the media has to ensure accuracy when it comes to issues such as this.

Images are powerful and this young mans face is going to be linked with terrorism in the psyche of the Age readers.

It would seem the old saying that a man who reads nothing at all is more educated then a man who reads nothing but newspapers is certainly accurate in this case.

No man owns God!

Allah is a prophet of Christ. Christ a prophet of God!

Allah and Christ both worship God!

God creates all child!

Man not take a child God created!

Christians past got it wrong too, killing Gods child not please God!

Killing in the name of Christ or Allah doesn't fool God, it a mans desire, it not one of Gods.

Where do you keep getting this shlt from? Islam has a very powerful hierarchy system. It is part of the reason why their religion and politics are nearly inseparable. Even more bizarre is how you keep saying Christianity has a strong hierarchy when in fact it doesn't. The Catholic church certainly does, but protestant churches got hid of a hierarchy system centuries ago. You will not find anyone with supreme power or say in Presbyterian, Baptist, congregation, etc, churches. Instead, they do everything they can to avoid anyone having too much power.

Sorry Quantum, if you'd read the whole thread you would have seen that i have already admitted to being a novice on anything Islam ....

The problem with Islam as I see it (
and I am certainly not an expert in the Islamic religion
)  is that any pshychotic megalomaniac is free to interpret any passage as they want ... at least with the christian religions, there is a head of the church that will ultimately dictate how the church interprets a certain passage

Bump for Quantum ...

or longie? any of you?

Quantum? Longie?  don't run away ... answer the question you dopey mo rons

I asked you to name the heirarchy, not to throw out some names ... what is the hierarcy Quantum? After all, you were the one who came out and told me I was wrong and that there is a heirarcy ... what is it? Surely its not beyond you to back your comments?

he just backed up his statement.  while you simply throw words on a screen thinking no one will notice.  no hierarchy?  where do you get this crap from?

his statement is only backed up if a blind dead idiot is reading it ... I suppose that explains why you are happy with it

where is the heirarchy longy? Grin Grin Grin

for someone who claims he knows NOTHING about Islam and then has it explained to him, you sure do complain a lot.
