The coal was there but not the nouse to use it Smiley

It doesn't take a lot of nouse, but they weren't stupid 100,000 years ago. It would have been used at some time like other rocks and put around a fire and they would have learned. Would it have been common? Probably only where there wer natural coal on the surface, wood was much easier to procure. Besides the point though with my reply to cods.

Yep, likely one of those discoveries that enabled a particular family unit to survive better than another.  A bit of early innovation and enterprise.  Likely started trading it as well.  Cave Capitalists.... Grin

That's why they survived.  The socialist cave-comrades are likely still frozen in their caves pretending to work....... Grin

If the energy is renewable, how TF can he kill it off?   Undecided

By changing the renewable targets and giving authority to some nut job idiots who claim that wind turbines cause health problems even though the dutch has been using wind power for centuries. That abort is a luddite lunatic. No wonder he is a catholic Sad

The Dutch windmills were old mechanical pumps used to pump/drain water from wetlands. It didn't matter when the wind didn't blow & the pumping stopped or slowed .... they were't relying on them for power. Todays wind turbines are not efficient because of their cost & maintenance, when the wind don't blow there aint no power .... & yes the noise pollution from the whirring turbines does cause health problems ....... do you have any near you?

Good. Useless waste of peoples money so AGW fruitloops can sleep at night. You pay for it you nutjobs

as opposed to paying through the nose for some suit and tie CEO dickhead to set fire to polluting coal Sad

well if you are on grid then you are adding to your own complaint...

go off grid and put a windmill in "your own" back yard and stop bitching...

..............

by the way.. .just up country from here we have a gas fired power plant that they use for boost.... like when it's super hot or cold and people are running a lot of electrical items at once...

on one hot day last year, 43*, the gas power station ran at 100% all day long...

however... the stupid wind farm that got dumped in our back yard ran at only 17%...

fricken useless eyesores...  Angry
