Sorry tony
1/1/14 and your first boat has been intercepted off bathurst island.

Gee wow, one boat in a matter of weeks. Lets all hit the panic button. No, hang on! That might be a bit hasty. I seem to recall a time when we were getting 2-3 boats a day. Oh yeah, that's right - it was the norm under Labor over the previous 6 years!

So Tony hasn't stopped the boats - as he promised during his election Mantra?    No one gives a crap about Labor, they are not in government.   The Coalition are, and a key cornerstone of their election commitment was to stop the boats.  They have obviously failed.   When are you Roids going to start holding this pathetic government to account for lies and failed promises?

yep, political football.
the average punter thinks they have all but stopped.
tony is showing sound political judgement.
its not his fault that labor showed what incredible numpties they are by their absolutley laughable media performance with regards this issue.
what idiotic amateurs they were for not also banning the reporting of arrivals.
it just seems like such a no brainer, i cant believe you would criticise tony for it,  you should have criticised gillard/rudd for not doing it.

perception is all that counts in politics, especially when the electorate have a 10 second attention span.

Good one - lets all start using the Occupy movement as our source of intelligent, well-researched information.

You actually believe what the government is (not) telling you.

Why does that not come as a surprise?

You believed Gillard's broken promise on the carbon tax, didn't you? Fool!

I'm just dealing with the facts:

It is no surprise to me that someone of your wit doesn't understand that the figure on which you so heavily rely is useless based on the evidence of people smugglers coaching country shoppers in what to say in order to pass those barrier tests.

They don't throw IDs overboard or mail them back from Indonesia for fun you know.  They are brighter than you are.

You can't prove any of this.  I am aware that some people probably do slip through the craks, but the only assumption you can make based on the available evidence is that the majority are genuine refugees.

LOL,  people smugglers and country shoppers both say that they are coached, a govt report says that they are coached.  Those statistics are rubbish and unreliable.  It is obvious to anyone who has the wit to connect that fact that people smugglers are coaching country shoppers.

But I expect you and others will desperately cling to it despite its obvious failings as a credible indication.

And you clowns pretend you are the intelligentsia?  Grin Grin

Yet they are more reliable than your statistics, of which you have zero.

Hehehehe, you accept that country shoppers are being coached but you insist that the statistic is reliable.

Ya gotta laugh at the gullibility and naivety the left will display in willing idiocy and suspension of rational thought.

1. This doesn't mean they aren't genuine
2.  I know it isn't 100% reliable.

If you disagree, how about you come up with some statistics instead of coming of like some kind of xenophobic bigot?

Rational thought?  What part of your thought process is rational?  The part where you base your opinion off of no evidence, or the part where you don't like foreigners?

The rational part is not blindly accepting at face value a statistic where there is evidence that the statistic is useless.

Plenty of evidence why the statistic is useless has been posted, I know you have read it because I have posted it in response to you asking for it.  More than once.   Cool

That they destroy passports?  Congratulations, you have proven they destroy passports.

Now how about you prove they aren't genuine refugees.

people who fly in by plane and seek asylum always try and destroy their passports. Its standard asylum-seeking procedure.

I look at all things critically and rationally.  If there is evidence that the barrier tests are being circumvented by coached claims then the statistic is bogus.

I really cannot make it any simpler for you than that.

So still no evidence they aren't genuine asylum seekers then?

I was addressing the 90% statistic.  Why they lie is another matter.  I can think of many reasons why they do, and not all those reasons include fleeing persecution.
