Well it is refreshing to see you both arguing for the other side for once, just a couple of things.

1. the term under the previous government was "irregular maritime arrivals"
2. the term was recently changed by the current government to "illegal maritime arrivals"
3. Asylum seekers are not committing any crime despite what their entry is called, irregular or illegal

1. it refers to boats, not people

2. it deems the boats irregular, not illegal

3. it's 2014

That's for the passengers of the boats, not the boats themselves.

Andrei is talking about the term used by the ADF for the actual boats - SIEVs.

And SIEV, today, stands for "Suspected Irregular Entry Vessel".

Andrei seems to be living in the past.

And you are correct, the passengers are not committing any crime.
