It is only the fanatic & the dumb muslims who want to sabotage xmas. In Malaysia for instance they love xmas.
We have dumb people & fanatics in every racial/religious group. In fact, all round, Australia must have more dumb people per square inch than just about everywhere . .except certain parts of the US.

actually they have a very discriminatory society. Racial discrimination in favour of Bumiputras (ethnic Malays) is actually legislated and promoted by the government.

Malaysian police have detained more than 900 Myanmar nationals in the capital Kuala Lumpur after a series of deadly clashes between Buddhist and Muslim groups.

Amar Singh, Kuala Lumpur's deputy police chief, says he doesn't want the violence to spread into Malaysia.

"The operation is to send a clear message to stop this nonsense," he said.

Police say four people have been killed and several others seriously injured in violence suspected to be linked to ongoing ethnic tensions in Myanmar.

U Maung Hla, head of the Burma Refugee Organisation in Malaysia, says violence between Myanmar refugee communities in Malaysia is not uncommon and is "sometimes due to religion".

Police have not provided details on the attacks but Malaysian media reports have suggested Buddhists came under attack from their Muslim countrymen seeking vengeance over violence in Myanmar.

The victims of religious tensions in Myanmar have mostly been Rohingya Muslims, but authorities in Malaysia say the victims in their country are Buddhists.

Violence against Rohingya Muslims, labelled by the United Nations as one of the world's most persecuted minorities, erupted in western Rakhine state last year and has spread across the country.

Thousands of the Muslim minority have escaped the violence and harsh living conditions by fleeing to Muslim-majority Malaysia.

The UNHCR says about 23,000 Rohingya Muslims are registered as refugees in Malaysia, but Malaysian authorities estimate more than 80,000 Myanmar nationals are living in the country.

You're right that selling is a big thing there. If you are a white tourist they will all but kiss your feet at the door knowing that you have big money. Of course they will chase the cheap locals out the same door as they bend over to serve your every need. Such harmony...

I seriously wonder if you spend as much time in Asia as you make out. You either are blind to all the issues going on in these places or all your knowledge comes from holiday brochures. I acknowledge that there are many on this forum who have an unjustified hate of Asia and can see no good in any Asian nation at all, but your blind love for the place is just crap. You must think no one else has seen these countries to call you out on your BS.

That's just security at banks and the new shopping malls. We have the same here.

It's got nothing to do with multiculturalism.

Malaysia is one of the safest places in the world for lone female travelers and the further you go off the beaten track, the safer you feel.

Purse snatching in the capital.....big deal. All capital cities have that problem, even my regional town has had an increase in the last two years.

It is you that has no idea.....you needed a visa and an immigration card to get entry into Malaysia.....yeah right. Internet travel is vastly different to the real thing longy.

Multicultural harmony.....Malaysia has it.

They integrate better, you can have an Indian shop next to a middle eastern restaurant next to an Anglican church next to a mosque next to a Chinese medicine man.....all getting along just fine.

Here you can have an entire shire protest because they don't want a mosque in their street.

I think your nose is out of joint because not one complains about the other, harmony is not in your dna, it would make you feel better if they were racist....isn't that how everyone should be?

Rubbish. I dare you to find a picture of a security guard standing at the door of a shop with a shotgun in Australia. I have never walked into a Myer and had someone standing in the doorway with a shotgun. You may have been to KL on business at best, staying in a five star resort....that's no way to experience any country. You have no idea about the real Malaysia outside of the tourist traps.

I travel on public transport when I'm in Asia and I've seen Muslims give their seat to Indians, Chinese, Europeans and vice versa....they respect others cultures.

What is your problem with armed security guards? they make me feel safe and I'm yet to see a guard challenge anyone let alone pull the gun. This has absolutely nothing to do with all these ethnic groups and cultures living together in harmony.

Anyway, keep your racist views to yourself, I'm not interested.
