That's not why he 'starts all these threads'. It's not an exercise in personal vanity for him. Nothing so trite, as you would like to believe for your own egotistical convenience.

Every time you and your little coterie of apologist 'Useful Idiot' collaborators attempt to defend the indefensible, fd once again successfully demonstrates that civilisation is always at risk of its enemies,

and that you people would like to drag us back to a time when theocratic lunacy used to rule the lives of whole nations as is still the case in half a dozen Islamic states.

Herbert,

Exactly so.

Public debate is a process of exposure.

And public debate, is a place where ideas and 'ideals' can be compared, against each other [by being defended or condemned].

And by being 'forced' to publicly defend those particular 'ideals' [which we are prepared to publicly defend], then it exposes and reveals [for everyone to see!], what is in our heart.

No ?

It should be instructive to us too,
to understand that it is a crime, in all 'rightly guided' ISLAMIC jurisdictions, to subject ISLAM to free and open public scrutiny [and thereby expose to the public glare, what ISLAM really is].

i.e.
It should be instructive to us too,
to understand that in the home of ISLAM, it is a capital offence, to publicly and openly scrutinise ISLAM!!!

Are forums like this slowly dying?
http://www.ozpolitic.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1365893107/5#5
Quote:

If i do regard ISLAM as an 'offensive' philosophy, then in a 'free and open' forum, shouldn't i be permitted to express that point of view, and to demonstrate, why i hold that particular view about ISLAM?

And if the detractors [of certain comments i have made] have a legitimate complaint, then let them air it [IN THE FORUM], and have their complaint tested in debate!
.....FOR ALL TO SEE.

Shouldn't the ABC forum MODERATORS allow those people who frequent the ABC forum pages, to decide for themselves if my [or anyone elses] arguments have any merit [or not]?

If what i say is untrue, or ridiculous, that fact, will soon become apparent to everyone, when what i say, is exposed to the light of [widespread] scrutiny.

Open societies do not fear the opinions of fools.
....they rather, EXPOSE and laugh at folly!

In any free and open debate, if a 'position' is absurd, if an 'argument' is absurd,
...then the debater is [often] condemned to all, WITH HIS OWN WORDS.

And isn't the exposure of folly, and error, THE VERY FUNCTION, of free and open debate?

Free and open debate *is meant* to be a contest of ideas!
....where every folly is revealed.

And i would contend, that open debate is healthy, to all general freedoms in a society.

Whereas, lies are easily concealed in closed societies,
....*because* these closed societies are places where lies, and falsehood,
....ARE NEVER EXPOSED TO SCRUTINY, OR SPOKEN TRUTH.

Oh, Sensei!  Your way of the troll is the best way.  Far better than that other Sensei DL's way of the hate!  You bait your lines with much flavoursome bait which lures the unsuspecting to your trolls!    It is wonderful to behold!  Always do you return with a big catch!  I sit at your feet and learn so much more than I do at the feet of DL who deliberately lies!   Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy

I have.  Is this any different to the goals of Christianity or any other evangelical religion out there?  No.  Should this cause concern?  Only if you're an Islamophobe.   Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy

Actually Christianity isn't trying to rule the world Jnr...  They haven't since the Crusades.
How far behind does that make Islam?
You need to read some history.

Sarah Palin on the invasion of Iraq: "Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God,"

George W. Bush claimed, "This crusade, this war on terrorism is going to take a while."

Donald Rumsfeld used biblical quotes in his weekly intelligence briefings about Iraq.

Looks to me like a lot of Conservative US politicians believed they were engaged in a crusade against Muslims.

The USA is a secular country with separation of church and state it is not a christian country.

What did the pope say in regard to Bush's crusade comment, did he say no way and distance the christian religion from any future crusades?

The christians apologise for the crusades, will muslims ever apologise for their conquests that caused the crusades?

The USA is a secular country with separation of church and state it is not a christian country.

Yet every politician invokes God at every opportunity, "God bless America!" is their usual exhortation.  Many Americans want to see religion being taught in schools, schools having daily prayers and of course, certain books and movies banned because they insult Christianity.  Doesn't look all that much different to what some Muslims want to do!   Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy

The Pope only represents Catholics.  Protestants don't recognise his authority.   So you see the schism in Christianity continues...

When did Christianity apologise for the Crusades?  Even the Popes only specific reference to them was to the Sack of Constantinople and that was for attacks on Orthodox Christians!  Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin  you do say some stupid things Jnr.

Honestly Palin? Bush?  Rumsfeld?
That's the best you got?
3 out of how many billion Christians?  And not even a common thread between them.
You do realise Kuwait asked the US to intervene when IRAQ invaded it don't you?

'Obama slams Republicans for 'ideological crusade'' seems to me crusade lower case c is used commonly in the US.

Go Jnr  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
Where's the Cuckoo emoticom?

The US hasn't started any war in the name of Christianity Jnr...  do grow up.
To state such things plays into the hands of ignorant Muslims that think the Crusades have never ended and go around blowing themselves and others up.
