Banks don't hold Home Loans, they bundle and sell them to Investors. New Home Subdivisions were built by the thousands and soon full of repossessed homes.  Those who could afford these new homes found the value dropped by tens of thousands less than they paid due to supply and demand. Every street had several empty repossessed homes on it driving down the value of the rest.

The Russian experience should have told him invading Afghanistan would be a disaster. Invading Iraq was a two part goal since they had nothing to do with 9/11. Despite denials Nation Building and the removal of Saddam Hussein were his goals. During the Clinton Presidency Saddam sent a hit team after Daddy George over the misunderstanding during that Presidency when Kuwait slant drilled oil wells under Iraq to steal their oil and sell it as their own. I was vocally against the invasion of Iraq before it happened and continue to believe it was a bad idea.
