Senator David Shoebridge, Leader of the Australian Greens and a Senator for New South Wales, will Address the National press club for the “Greens leader Address to the National Press Club”.   

Australians are losing hope that anyone in politics will make their lives easier.

In his first National Press Club address, new Greens Leader David Shoebridge will outline his plan to build a mass movement big enough to change this country. Big enough to replace the major parties. Big enough to take on the corporations and vested interests that have captured Labor, the Liberals and One Nation.

Senator Shoebridge will also announce a key plank of the Greens’ plan to take back our wealth by taxing the 1% and using it to make life easier for the rest of us.



David Shoebridge is Leader of the Australian Greens and a Senator for New South Wales.

Before politics, David spent 13 years as a lawyer, most of them as a barrister representing workers in employment, discrimination and injury cases. He fought attempts to restrict workers’ compensation, advocated for survivors of child sexual abuse and held employers to account for unsafe workplaces.

Across 12 years in the NSW Legislative Council, he built a reputation for fearlessly holding power to account. He was an early voice calling for a Royal Commission into institutional child sexual abuse. He chaired the Public Accountability Committee that scrutinised pork-barrelling in the Berejiklian government’s grants schemes. He once spoke for nearly six hours straight to defend public sector workers’ pay and conditions.

Since entering the Senate in 2022, David has led the fight against the hugely wasteful AUKUS nuclear submarines, taken on billionaire AI corporations and exposed Australia’s defence industry links to the genocide in Palestine.

David lives in Sydney with his partner Patricia and their two daughters.
