I think Einy wanted you to call him out on it. So he could bloviate some more. He should be thanking you.

Both Einy on Lee have given up on pretending that Nuclear can compete with renewables on cost. They only seem to post about topics that are completely irrelevant, like whether it is OK to call a nuclear submarine a power station or a steam boat.

There is no such thing as a closed loop turbine what you are thinking about in the primary closed loop of super hot water from the reactor which heats the secondary or open loop which produces steam for the turbine, the exhaust steam is then condensed and fed back into the secondary loop.

Regarding having the most to say, your 123,000 plus posts may be some indication.

You need to realise when you're outgunned and apologise for bloviating.

Bobby,
All secondary loops on High Temperature Hot water systems are Open loops, meaning that they can be vented to atmosphere if necessary, in the case of the steam submarines the secondary loop can be vented to the sea.
For example, if the condenser fails it can be isolated and the exhaust steam allowed to ioescape outside the hull.

I’ve worked on HTHW systems as used on the submarines, only with coal as fuel.
Typical out going temperature is 300deg Fahrenheit.
In industry secondary loops are numerous for such applications as sterilisers, domestic grade hot water, washing plants, small steam engines and in some rare cases, fireless locomotives.

Stop bloviating.
You wrote nonsense and you didn't apologise when I caught you out.   Roll Eyes

And you are admitting that you believe that you’re in the 27th year of the current millennium, or do you realise that you were led astray and couldn’t count?

I base my knowledge of HTHW on spending 6 months on the Engineer’s staff at Lidcombe State Hospital, NSW, which had an extensive HTHW system linking all the wards, operating theatres, kitchens, the heated swimming pool and the laundry, all of which were on the secondary or open loop.

How are you going with coming to terms with the Millennium fiasco?

Walter Mitty:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Mitty

Mitty is a hapless, absent-minded man with a vivid fantasy life. His apparent incompetence and inattention result in him being criticized, mocked, and otherwise treated dismissively. At the same time, Mitty's surroundings trigger him to enter fantasies in which he occupies a radically different social position, where he is assertive and authoritative, exceptionally competent, or formidable.

Mitty is a meek, mild-mannered man with a vivid fantasy life. In a few dozen paragraphs, he imagines himself a wartime pilot, an emergency-room surgeon, and a devil-may-care killer. Although the story has humorous elements, there is a darker and more significant message underlying the text, leading to a more tragic interpretation of the Mitty character. Even in his heroic daydreams, Mitty does not triumph, several fantasies being interrupted before the final one sees Mitty dying bravely in front of a firing squad. In the brief snatches of reality that punctuate Mitty's fantasies, the reader meets well-meaning but insensitive strangers who inadvertently rob Mitty of some of his remaining dignity.

Popular culture
The character's name has come into more general use to refer to an ineffectual dreamer and appears in several dictionaries. The American Heritage Dictionary defines a Walter Mitty as "an ordinary,
often ineffectual person who indulges in fantastic daydreams of personal triumphs".

You really are an idiot.   Shocked

Wow!Another contender.
OK, then kindly explain how the so called Nuclear Powered Submarines are nuclear powered; how does this nuclear power actually move the vessel?

It heats up water in a closed loop steam turbine.
It emits no carbon dioxide - it emits only heat that is used to do work.

Bobby has a better grasp of the technical details, and Brian Ross comes up with better questions.

As I said Bobby has it mostly right except that it is a closed loop boiler, were it a closed loop turbine then the speed of the turbine could not be controlled.
I also wonder where Long Bayonets Brian has gone, perhaps he got tired of lying and retired.

Thanks for the extra bloviating. Was there some kind of point buried in there that we missed?

Yeah walruses can't climb cliffs or mountains.  Grin
