Man did this thread ever get depressing. I suppose that was the intent.
I thought long and hard about whether i would contribute again to it. I mean, i'll only get abused but you guys are just so damn wrong it hurts.
Sophia, i'm so soory that other women made you feel less than for your choice to be a home maker. Feminism was never about that. Feminism strove for validity of the home maker ... for the sheer worth of unpaid work.
Certainly, feminism spoke to the lack of choice for women but no feminist work i've ever read has castigated the choice to be a care giver.
This pitting of women against each other was designed. It was a calculated counterattack.
In saying that, i'm in no way denying that certain women were not absolute haggises. I could write tomes on women betraying women ... but that's not what the principles of feminism are about. They are to support and validate women to have as much choice over their own agency as men.
It's really that simple.
Thank you Mothra, that was well put in a nutshell. I honestly thought it was me, too sensitive or something!

I felt during the 70s and 80s that females in position of authority had to be more aggressive in their role because of male competition?
But when my kids were teens with licence and working, the 1990s emerged very different females in the workplace!
We went into real estate investing. Because of injury my husband could no longer work as a mechanic,
Here’s my first time as a woman, going into a bank to ask for a loan.
I was absolutely sh1ttibg myself and ready for abuse and refusal.
Instead, I had this wonderful man say “Of course we’ll give you a loan”
Wow, I thought. But what came next was even more amazing.
We then dealt with women as bank managers, female real estate agents, female lawyers/conveyancers, and they were the best! Better than their male counterparts, and I found preferring women in business as a result. So different in mind set and attitudes compared to the 70s and 80s.
It was what I needed, a better mindset and better attitude towards me as a female wanting to advance.
I felt empowered. Finally

And better years of the 90s and noughties followed.
As success followed I received praise as a female, rather than criticism of earlier times.
I realise now, how hard it must’ve been for females to have been in the workforce position of authority in earlier decades, how they must’ve struggled with goodness knows how much bad attitude, from male competitors, to get a foothold in advanced positions.
This whole thread is making me understand that now.
Yes and this is with women working in a patriarchal society.
A Matriarchal society would be totally different.
