If you're connected to grid with solar and no batteries you have no power in black outs.

They shut down home solar without batteries so they don't feed into grid when blackouts happen which is a safety problem for those fixing the grid.

Solar with batteries can be isolated from grid with blackouts so you need a battery to avoid losing power during blackouts.

True but there is no isolation switch on the solar cell system I refer to
and an invertor to change the DC from the solar cells into 240 VAC
for the mains in the house.

Those with batteries can do it.

There is an isolation switch if it's wired up by licensed electrician.
They all need it to stop solar feeding into grid when power goes down.

Leftists and the Ayatollahs have a lot in common when it comes to criticism of Islam, they don't tolerate it.

OK thanks - then why can't he use his solar cells to power his aircon
if the city power goes out?

It would depend on the current draw and of course if there are no batteries there is no smoothing. Brownout.  Green smell, pink smoke as we used to say.
