I brought a date home and she saw my shiny sink, that looked brand new.
She could tell that I can't cook and left.  Undecided

Lol.  I can't cook either.  The upside is, no one is going to expect you to cook Christmas lunch.   Smiley

ps ... but I'm quite happy to pay for the food.

Yes - no matter how dirty your stainless steel sink and bench top is
it will clean up to be shiny clean like a brand new one -
and very quickly and easily too.

I normally use Sugar Soap and a stiff nylon brush.

Does that get rid of the scratches?

There are always microscopic scratches - I don't worry about them.

Yeah, they're just surface scratches but I do notice them.

You could use an electric drill with a buffer pad and metal polish
but I couldn't be bothered.
It's not a mirror - it's a kitchen sink.

I won't be using an electric drill any time soon.  I do actually own one and it's still in its box 10 years after buying it.

The kids have drills, I can always get them to do it.  If I can be bothered.  But there is a product you can buy that will remove these scratches and that seems the easiest solution.  Just have to find it.

I haven't tried those Nano cloths, etc that are supposedly able to get rid of (or hide) car scratches. I don't know if they work on sink abrasions?

Restored 30 year old sink

Used this to restore a 30 year old sink - worked really well, Used it with a buffing attachment on the drill, rinsed it off with water and a microfibre cloth, then wiped it over with Barkeeper's friend. It's still a 30 year old sink, but now it's a very clean and shiny one Smiley Saved me having to get a new sink installed.

A divisive topic for guitarists.

The vast majority of guitars have nickel frets - stainless steel frets are quite rare.

However, many say they are much better (me included).

Regular, nickel frets wear out relatively easily and it's quite expensive to have a guitar re-fretted.

Stainless steel frets last for decades - most people never have to replace them.

However, some guitarists say they alter the tone of the guitar ... for the worse.

Well this thread inspired me -
I cleaned my double basin sink and the side piece where the dish rack is drained.

The latter was the worst part.
I used  Sugar soap and a stiff nylon bristled brush,
then Jif with a stiff nylon bristled brush,
then a sponge to wipe it down,
then I used stainless steel,  steel wool to finish the job.
It came up like new.   Smiley

Tech Divers have the old argument Stainless Steel Clips v Brass Clips.
It's still ongoing.

I will go stainless for kitchen bench if i renovate it doesn't absorb stuff like other tops.

Elon got it right with stainless for Cybertruck cuts down on cost with painting.

If you park outside in the sun in Australia your paintjob will only last around 15 years before UV fries it.
Stainless sidesteps all the paint issues with cars that gets very expensive.

In the US where they use salt to break up ice in winter it causes massive corrision another benefit for SS.

You can buff it up to mirror finish.

They don't allow Cybertruck here they claim it's dangerous for pedestrians it's BS no worse than any other big truck.
With FSD it's probably safer than most cars for pedestrians.
