Kinda makes me miss my old P.14 .303 (same as US M17 but different calibre) with the broken extractor spring - a small screwdriver would remove the expended casing to allow reloading... slow but effective at range.

People are criticising the cops for taking cover behind vehicles etc.... with only a handgun it is difficult to take on a nut with a long gun - first response vehicles need to be up-armed and the police need to employ more ex-military types.
