The GOP is a party full of monsters.

Evil monsters.

They actually enjoy making people suffer.

This is a way to control woman, and their body.

Very sad.

OK so what about drugs, should the GOP allow women to use drugs as they please or would that be a way to control women, and their body.

Before you go on a rant I think abortion is a moral thing and I don't expect others to have the same morals that I do. Some think its a legal thing and approach it from that angle but I support majority rules in legal things mostly.

It is cruel and very sad.

When the woman’s water breaks before the fetus has developed lungs and cannot survive it still cannot be aborted but has to be carried. Partial miscarriage? The same. The fetus must be septic and turned the womb septic thus placing the woman’s life in danger before anything can be done. This in a country with 8 to 2 times the maternal death rate of Australia. Peanut states like Alabama had 40 maternal deaths per 100,000 births, Australia has 5.

But say the birth proceeds normally—what is the effect on the mother of that birth? Her health insurance, employment situation, educational chances etc?

In a decade or so—a huge cohort of unwanted children turning into juvenile delinquents. Pro life, what a sad joke.

When collecting data for Alabama:
Too many Alabama women die each year from complications related to pregnancy. These deaths occur during pregnancy and up to one year following a pregnancy/delivery.

When collecting data for Australia:
In Australia, where childbirth is safe for most women, maternal death is rare. In 2023, 27 women were reported to have died during pregnancy or within 42 days of the end of pregnancy.

Not arguing one way or another but the statistics don't match.

Leroy, imagine that your daughter (I have no idea if you have any children) is out at a party one night. Through no fault of her own, her drink is spiked and she ends up getting raped by an offender who fails to use a condom and she ends up pregnant. Lets assume you live in the U.S. state of Texas in which there is a blanket ban on abortion - no exceptions.

Your daughter is not legally permitted to abort the pregnancy and she must take the pregnancy to full term. Now imagine she is 15 years old - not 18 or 21 or 25. Do you still support this blanket ban on abortion? What if it was discovered during a regular pregnancy scan that the baby was diagnosed with trisomy 18, a genetic disorder that results in the unborn baby developing horrific physical defects that make it very unlikely it will survive to full term and that without an abortion, this unborn baby threatens the life of the pregnant girl - your daughter. Do you still support this blanket ban on abortion?

This isn't theoretical - it's happening in states across the United States right now.

It is not theoretical, true.

A TEN year old in Ohio got raped by a family member and became pregnant—how the hell can a 10yo carry a fetus to term? Yet the state laws said just that! Just that, a 10yo must carry a fetus to term!

She got smuggled across state boundaries to Idaho and the fetus safely aborted before harm came to the girl.

I may have gotten the states wrong but
the incident actually happened!

The governor of Ohio stated the girl could have had an abortion in Ohio but that is not what his foul law stated!

Comparative maternal death rates:

Covid did increase maternal deaths somewhat.

There is no "GOP abortion ban".

The jurisdiction to make laws about abortion has been removed from une;lected SCOTUS judges and returned to where it belongs -the state legislatures.

It si the same in aother federated countries such as Australia. It was a judivcial anomaly for the SCOTUS to appropriate legislative power from the  states by inventing a constitutional basis for Roe v Wade. That constitutional basis does not exist so the power to make laws about abortion is with the electors in each state. They are free to elect representatives who will make laws to permit or prohibit abortion.
California was the home state of Republican presidents Nixon and Reagan. Now it's Kackela Country. LBJ was a Democrat prez from Texas, Dubya a Republican from Texas. O'Bama was a Kenyan from Indonesia. Trump was a Democrat before he was a Republican.

Wrong. The only states in the U.S. that have abortion bans are Republican states. Not one Democrat state has a total abortion ban - only GOP states do.

Before you go on a rant I think abortion is a moral thing and I don't expect others to have the same morals that I do. Some think its a legal thing and approach it from that angle but I support majority rules in legal things mostly.

Where have I supported a blanket ban on abortion.

More to the point, where have you spoken against it.

I have not spoken for or against it,  pregnant women not only don't care what I think they have no interest in my personal opinion.

BOSTON, MA — Governor Maura Healey signed into law House Bill 5595 this morning, legalizing abortion in the state of Massachusetts up until a child enters Kindergarten.

The new statute would allow mothers five years to bond with their baby before deciding if they would like to murder them.

"It's a great day for women's healthcare," said Governor Healey. "The decision to murder your toddler is back where it should be: between the mother and her doctor. No longer will the government force its way into these conversations where it doesn't belong, saying things like, 'Hey, you can't dismember your own four-year-old.' The long, dystopian nightmare where women do not have autonomy over their own bodies — including the autonomy to use their bodies to murder a toddler — is finally over."

Massachusetts had previously restricted abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy, when a baby typically can survive outside the mother's womb. Though the baby can survive on its own, Democrats felt that mothers still might want to kill their offspring anyway.

"So what if the baby is its own person? Why should that keep you from killing them?" said Governor Healey. "What if the baby turns three and they like have an annoying lisp or something? Should a mother be forced to continue caring for the child against her will? That is why women deserve at least five years to decide if they want to 'off' their kid or not. If they're still undecided, they can hold the kid back a year from starting school. One more year to decide whether to 'pull the trigger,' so to speak."

At publishing time, Democrats had unveiled a new bill to legalize abortion until a child turns 18, called the "Save Women's Healthcare Act."

Not wrong at all. In a federation it is important to keep a clear demarcation between state and federal legislative authority. The Supreme Court, with Roe v Wade,  usurped state legislative authority to itself.
In the latest Supreme Court decision the Court reversed that usurpation.

The people of each of the States can make a democratic decision about abortion laws in their own states. They can elect pro- or anti-abortion political representatives. Just because you do not agree with some views doesnt mean that they are illegitimate. Abortion, like many other issues are openly debated and put to the vote. There ard jurisdictions where the majority agree with you, just as there are jurisdictions where they disagree with you.  This is the very essence of the diffusion and balance of political power.

Yes, but one must marvel at the ethical gymnastics at play here. Frank supports abortion rights. Always has.

Here he is, highlighting the importance of the balance of state and federal powers, Constitutional demarcations between jurisdictions, state legislative authority, legal precedent and the reversal of usurpation, etc, etc, etc, but do you know?

He secretly has no problem with abortion at all. Yes, like his very own DL, the old boy couldn't give a hoot.

For the old boy, it's a matter of principle. He's a real legal eagle, that one. Don't get him started on the essence of the diffusion and balance of political power - we could be here all day!

Just don't mention the fraught legal justification for presidential candidates threatening to "overturn all rules, laws and articles, including those in the Constitution". Don't ask when they get caught on tape bullying state election officials to find them 11,800 more votes - "which is one more than what we need". Or have seven state electoral college certificates forged and sent to Congress to declare them the winner of an election they lost. There are way too many overlapping demarcations there, clearly.

And whatever you do, don't raise the Constitutional pretext for presidents staying in power for a third term. The old boy doesn't like to talk about that.

No, the old boy would rather leave controversial legal topics like that alone. Curiously, his legal repertoire consists solely of justifications for removing rights he secretly supports.

That's not a special kind of stupid. It's a mark of devotion.

Yes, Master.

It is the basis of the SCOTUS reasoning for reversing RvW. The same SCOTUS you mongs enthusiastically clap to when it decides against the current Federal administration - which, btw, was not a party to the case taken to SCOTUS which resulted in the reverssal of the RbW decision.

Most etgical of you, old chap. I'm sure the rest of us read the article in the OP and said ah. Only in America, eh?

A mother with a twin dying in her womb: herself at risk of organ failure and brain damage - two lives at risk. The doctors are prevented from performing a procedure they've been doing for years - the termination of a dying baby at three months. The medical advice? Travel to another state for an abortion - quick.

Another woman suffers blood clots in her brain while nine weeks pregnant. She's declared brain-dead, spends 16 weeks on life support to support her baby. At six months, they deliver and turn off the machine, ending her life. Not even her parents could make that decision. The baby was born extremely premature - unknown prognosis or if they're disabled, the article doesn't say. At least two other women in Georgia have died after having medical terminations knocked back.

For the rest of us, citizens of a normal, full democracy, it's bleedingly obvious. It's obvious even in the most backward authoritarian states where medical abortions are permitted. To you?

Not wrong at all. The very essence of the diffusion and balance of political power. Clear demarcation between state and federal legislative authority. Usurpation. A giggle about Dems killing 18 year olds, which wasn't really a giggle at all.

DL said it first. He then krapped on about Tylenol causing autism.

The article's not about SCOTUS, it's about the politicization of wombs. The current federal administration's a joke - at best. At worst, they've made health care unaffordable for anyone without a job - such as young, pregnant women. And if you're young, pregnant and - ahem - black, you've got a far higher chance of dying during childbirth, a problem the rest of the developed world seems to have solved.

Only in America, old boy. Only you.

It's like his own little kindergarten.  Grin

Frank is a special kind of stupid. ..................

................. That's not a special kind of stupid. It's a mark of devotion.

Yes, Master.

it's  what trump cultists do

It's hard to believe the old boy was a neocon once, do you recall?

GW was the bee's knees. Cheney and Rumsfeld? Fine fellows.

The old boy loved their forever wars concept. Invading and pillaging the Muselman? What's not to like?

The old boy enjoyed the thought of waterboarding and torture in general. He loved Rumsfeld's schtick about his standing desk.

Old tennis injury, Don said, he stood at his desk all the time. What's wrong with forcing your torture victims to stand on their own two feet?

When the Abu Graib pics came out, the old boy was over the moon. You see? He said. That's what we should be doing to them over here.

Before long, the endless wars killed the economy, Bush became a pariah and that was that. The old boy dared not say his name, even while the Kenyan was in power for all those years.

GW Bush? He'd say. Who he?

In another year's time, DL will have the same cachet. He'll stink to high heaven, even to the old boy. Tucker or some other fool will be anointed, and the old boy will be forced to stick it in.

DL? He'll say, his mouth full of shit. Never took to the man - a little too tanned for my liking.

Whenever we remind the old boy of his devoted cult worship, he'll go all shy. He'll suddenly no-speaka da English again. If you press, you'll get the usual misspelled tirade and poof! He'll be off.

There he goes, see you later.

Frank is a special kind of stupid. He really believes Democrats want to legalise abortion right up to 18 years of age.  Roll Eyes

Yes, but one must marvel at the ethical gymnastics at play here. Frank supports abortion rights. Always has.

It's not 'etgical gymnastic;' idiotic, grimacing gobber.

Only you.

State laws.

Federal laws are not guaranteed to any more faultless.

Stop grimacing.
