Australia is widely regarded as the country with the most flies. It is home to an estimated 30,000 species of flies, with populations numbering in the billions.

You know what helps to get rid of that?

Just been fishing and shocked at the king tide and no moon?

Wtf is going on???

( shorts and T-shirt weather on the far north coast atm).

No wind  so no chill tonight

Grin There's a moon alright

it's a New Moon King Tide.

You shouldn't bother going fishing if you know that little about tides.  Grin

Quote:
A "king tide" (scientifically called a perigean spring tide) is an especially high tide that occurs when the Earth, Moon, and Sun align during a new or full moon, while the Moon is at its closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit (perigee).

The only problem with the BOM is that they changed their website to become hard to navigate. I cannot get specific information about certain towns (like my own).

Yes you can - you're not trying hard enough. Grin

I just buy those fly and mozzie plug ins. And I light up citronella candles downstairs. Turns out to be cheaper in the long run.

Just need to go back to the old style of website. You pick a location and you read off the details.

There’s this explanation about the intense heat in parts of Europe happening now at first month of their summer.
I found the comments interesting with temp comparisons.
But what I’ve noticed we’ve had less rain here in Melbourne and it’s a dryer winter.
Trouble is we get a big rain and flood and then nothing for ages after all that water flood.

They fixed something that wasn't broke and probably outsourced the job to Mumbai.

Does this help?

https://reg.bom.gov.au/qld/forecasts/rockhampton.shtml?ref=hdr

The 'old' website is still there (for now) but it isn't easy to find. I use it for Perth all the time because, like most people I find the new one too complex and confusing.

We have strong south west winds just starting and some rain in Byron bay.

Obviously because school holidays have started .
It costs so much to go camping now I really feel bad when they get lousy weather.

At least it’s still warm. I’m yet to need jeans or shoes.

It has been cooler recently. We were forecasted a cold change next week. That is going by a youtuber meteorologist that said that the 14th onward for a few weeks was going to be below average minimums.

You can still access the old BOM website. Rain Radars. Then you can use menu for other sections.

Getting cold - finally - we're Snowies folk - and hate the Brumby killings... used to fire in late March...

I still use the old BOM site...

Pick your local:-
https://reg.bom.gov.au/products/IDR043.loop.shtml#skip

NTL is closest - we get the jets from Williamtown flying overhead... really low sometimes...

Where you look top right from the picture - you see 'Nearby Radars' - you can just follow those to your local and then bookmark it.  Just push arrows until you are local.

Easy - I hated the new system on sight....  Pharken Nerds....
