Trump announces resumption of nuclear testing
Oct 30th, 2025 at 7:28pm

I disagree with it, however I do understand the rationale behind the decision.

Russia and China are no longer afraid or even respected of the United States, therefore it is time for the United States to modernise its arsenal.

I know nothing about nuclear weapons, but it does seem the massive bombs which were created decades ago aren't really that useful. They are big, they destroy massive areas but can't really be used.

Smaller, more tactical nuclear weapons might be better to be in the stockpile.

Peace through strength.

Trump tells Pentagon to immediately resume testing US nuclear weapons

By Trevor Hunnicutt, Ismail Shakil and Kanishka Singh
30 October 2025

REUTERS

U.S. President Donald Trump ordered the U.S. military on Thursday to immediately resume testing nuclear weapons after a gap of 33 years, minutes before beginning a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Trump made the surprise announcement on Truth Social while he was aboard his Marine One helicopter flying to meet Xi for a trade negotiating session in Busan, South Korea. He said he was instructing the Pentagon to test the U.S. nuclear arsenal on an "equal basis" with other nuclear powers.

You disagree with it, Matty, however you agree.

Our friend Bobby, I'm afraid, will beg to differ. He's ever so averse to this nuclear arsenal business, after all.

Aquascoot? He'll go through the roof. So unfair to the horses, after all.

FD? He's a liberal Democrat for heaven's sake. Freeeedom, innit.

Look, you might get Gordon and Lee on board, but they'll agree with anything.

Some of us do have principles, you know.

As for the old boy, he disagwees with the very pwemise.

Just be sure to tell him what DL said first, mkay?

Amazing the guy you wouldn't trust with an unplugged toaster.

Trump is probably on his last legs with nothing to lose.

It's 80 years since Hiroshima and Nagasaki
and still every person in the world has the threat of being killed by nuclear weapons.
The fact that many are on a hair trigger is disgraceful.

All it would need is for human beings to declare that it's not acceptable
and verifiable rules to be put into place to stop hair trigger systems,
and the gradual dismantling and removal of all nuclear weapons.

You'd think 80 years would be long enough to do it?
It depresses me to see how pathetic our world leaders have always been.

The problem is that for dictators like Putin and Xi, it isn't the way they think. They see them as symbols of their strength and in Putin's case, threaten to use them to keep adversaries in line.

My point is that after 80 years no one should have
any nuclear weapons to threaten anyone else with.

Grin

He seems to be doing everything he can to make sure he never gets it.

Starting new wars, intensifying existing wars, befriending war criminals, bringing out the nukes, murdering people in speed boats.

Way to go, Mango Mussolini.
