He's right, Marla. We have Medicare for all, a social safety net, independently decided electoral districts, publicly funded elections and, for the most part, representative government.
True. Because you also don't have to pay for a military. So I guess my tax dollars in a way go into paying for your social safety nets and free health care. No?
A rare lucid moment for Marla.
Why should Americans work 2 jobs to pay for fat Europeans security who want to work a 30 hour week ?
That's a tough one, dear. Why did Aquascoot support the Americans backing the "noble Israelis" in their Six Day war, the War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur war?
Those disagreements led to the oil shocks of the 1970s, two recessions and the loss of America's gold standard - all that gold they seized in WWII and used to pay for another war Aquascoot supported, the invasion of Nam and the bombing of Cambodia.
The invasion of Iraq? You supported that one too. Not only did it
fail to secure the Middle East as planned, it facilitated the rise of ISIS, raised global terrorism and tanked the US budget. This left nothing in the coffers for when the global financial crisis inevitably hit and America was forced to bail out its banks to stave off total economic collapse.
And why does Aquascoot support the Americans propping up the "noble Bibi" to conduct a genocide in Gaza, drone attacks on civilians in Lebanon and Syria and the bunker-bombing of Iran?
Not only has your DL facilitated Israel's weapons shipments and funding in full, he ordered Congress to
increase the military budget. To help make a few savings, he had his team write a big, beautiful bill that cuts Medicaid and food assistance for all those Americans forced to work two jobs to get by.
It's most peculiar. For all your Dorothy Dixers about fat Europeans, you supported every one of those wars and interventions. The Europeans?
Not so much. While they scrambled to vote them down in the UN, the Americans used their veto power on the Security Council, but do you know?
Historically, Americans have done okay out of the deal. Global trade, you see, is paid in US dollars, not Euros. This gives the Americans the ability to sell US bonds to other countries to pay for all of its wars, including Israel's. In return for having to work two jobs, Americans are able to get cheap loans, based on America's high credit rating: the
quid pro quo America has with its citizen-consumers.
Having a powerful currency allows the Americans to import cheaper goods. So, in return for playing global cop, Americans get cheaper oil, cheaper loans and cheaper stuff than anybody else in the world, based on the post-war agreement with Europe to trade in US dollars.
If the American economy enters a downturn, its leaders look for endless wars to stimulate the economy. War creates jobs. Representatives from both parties have weapons factories in their districts, and manufacturers are largely secular when it comes to political donations. The 2000 recession led to the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the recession in the 90s to the first Gulf War, and I guarantee you your DL will find his own endless war to start when the economic going gets tough.
Pete refuses to say whether he's got invasion plans for Iran, Venezuela, Panama or Greenland, but who can say? Maybe DL will pick Canada or Mexico, his number one trade enemies. He renegotiated their free trade agreement himself, so who knows?
Back in the good old days, you used to lecture us on worshipping the Fridge, free trade and America Inc. The "Superior Man" bounces out of bed with a five year plan, you said. Fixed, unwavering, steady in his resolve - like an Israeli tank commander slicing through the Sinai Desert, etc, etc, etc.
Then, all of a sudden, you changed you mind. The Superior Man suddenly became unsteady, wavering and all over the shop. No more endless wars, you said - apart from the ones DL starts. No more free trade - apart from the trade DL does in Trumpcoin. No more American-led NATO and USAID, the stick and carrot America has used to stay number one since WWII.
Today, you want the bulk of American revenue put into tax cuts for American billionaires. They can use their savings to buy million dollar dinners with DL, the cost of doing business. If they play nice, DL promises to approve their mergers, sling them a nice government contract or pardon them if they get into any hot water.
Free trade? Bad. Corruption? Good. Endless wars? It depends...
You think it's a smart move. A real "win/win", no?
Just
killing it.
