Israel, the
failed democracy.
East Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza, Golan Heights, are occupied territories. In Australia, a full democracy, our territorians are granted the right to vote.
In Israel, they are granted the right to be executed and have foreign settlers move onto their land.
Quote:Within the areas over which Israel exerts sovereign control, there are 10 million people who have full rights and 5.5 million who do not have citizenship and who lack access to the rights enjoyed by Israeli citizens. This means that only 70% of Israel’s population has the right to vote or to become eligible to vote at 18 years of age.
This 5.5 million figure does not include the millions of displaced Palestinians living around the world. Many, displaced in the 67 and 73 wars, live in refugee camps in Jordan and Syria to this very day.
Australia, a full democracy, grants its expat citizens the right to vote. In Israel, displaced Arabs aren't even granted passports. Many are denied visas to visit, barred from entering the land of their birth.
Quote:There are only two ways that Israel can achieve democratic status. Either the occupation must end, so that Israel no longer has control over Palestinians’ lives, or Israel must offer everyone living under its control citizenship and the right to vote.
Israel is a democracy in name only, no different to the Apartheid state of South Africa, where only whites were granted full citizenship.
Referring to Israelis as Jews is no different to describing South Africans as Afrikaans.
Freeeeeedom, innit.
