Democracy?

Democracy is synonymous with freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, etc.

Yet what do we see in Israel?

"Multiple laws, policies, and court rulings in Israel violate nearly every freedom enumerated in the First Amendment of the US Constitution, including freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of peaceable assembly. If Israeli politicians wish to brag that their nation resembles western democracies, they must defend the freedoms those countries hold dear. Israel does not."

Yes, they do go hand in hand.

That is why Israelis, including Arab Muslim Israelis, have more rights and freedoms, and more say in the governance of the country, than in any other middle eastern or north african country. I dare say they would have even more, on par with us, if they had not been constantly attacked since the country came into existence.

Nitpick all you like, but all it demonstrates is that you judge them differently, because they are Jews. You sound no different to TGD explaining how awful it is to live with freedom and democracy in Australia, when he is not confused and thinking we live in America.

Israel has created a beacon of freedom and democracy in one of the most backwards, hostile, oppressive and corrupt regions on earth. No wonder the Muslims and wannabe Nazis hate it so much.

Hi FD, where does Israel stand on the democracy index?

Cheers.

Above all its Musulman neighbours.

They are in 30th place, out of 167. Their score is 7.8, up from 7.3 20 years ago. A 'flawed democracy'. 8.0 and above is considered a full democracy.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Economist_Democracy_Index

We are #13, with a score of 8.9. The USA is #34, with a score of 7.7.

By being a beacon of freedom and democracy. I doubt the gays getting thrown off buildings care too much whether Israel scores a 7.8 or an 8.0 on the economists scale.

Plenty of people are trying to be like Israel. Lots of people from neighbouring countries are trying to get in to Israel. Not vice versa. The Iranian protestors would prefer Israel's democracy, despite whatever flaws it has, to their system. Looking from that far down the scale, the differences are so vast that it would be difficult to make a meaningful distinction between Israel's and Australia's democracy, or between Australia's and Norway's.

Israel is hated because of the Jews.

I'm curious, do you actually think all the Muslims and various other Jew haters who want to see Israel destroyed do so because Israel has not done a good enough job at creating a liberal democracy?

Grappler Racist Filth wrote on Jul 5th, 2026 at 1:20pm:
The US did the same with many of Japanese and German descent[/highlight],  etc in WW II ..

Just so, only the US never denied them citizenship and created a legal category targeting them for execution, now did they?

The US never detained them indefinitely. The US never bombed their neighbourhoods to render them inhabitable, denied them food, water or medical services. The US never allowed settlers in to take their land, or pushed for their forced resettlement and exile.

The US, in perhaps its gravest human rights breach on its own soil, housed and fed their so-called enemy aliens for the duration of WWII, and that was that. All 31,000 went home.

Israel has killed a greater number of civilians in Gaza alone. Gaza has been occupied by Israel since 1967. Gazans have effectively lived in captivity since 2007, when Israel sealed the Rafah border. Today, all entry or exit from Gaza is strictly prohibited - particularly for journalists. Survivors are now at the mercy of the IDF, who are currently detaining and torturing civilians, including doctors.

In March, Israel began its invasion of southern Lebanon. Over 1.3 million people were forced off their land at gunpoint and had their homes, workplaces and communities destroyed. Roads, bridges, power lines - all infrastructure - have been systematically demolished. The IDF has even poisoned their water.

This isn't about Jews or Muslims. Many of those towns were Christian - their homes, farms, schools and even churches have been erased. Entire communities have been forced into homelessness, over a million living in cars and tents - indefinitely.

And Israel hasn't finished yet. Israel has taken over Lebanese air space, filling the Beirut sky with drones.

Beirut, a modern metropolitan city, a population of over 2.3 million, the same size as Perth, is now under siege. Israel uses drones to create sonic booms - blasts throughout the night, designed to keep the population on edge. You never know whether that explosion's going to get you.

After all, some do get you. In one round of bombings in April, Israel targeted neighbourhoods all over Beirut, killing 254 people, wounding over 700 more.

Entire blocks were flattened, the lucky ones being pulled from the rubble intact. Last month, another another two apartment blocks were taken out, killing, disabling and traumatising more. Israel had just signed a ceasefire.

But do you know? Israel is still, as FD points out, a failed democracy. Its citizens get a vote. Their current prime minister,  Bibi Netanyahu belongs to a nationalist party called Likud. They have an expansionist view of Israel, a vision known as Greater Israel. Likud's 1977 political slogan caught on: from the river to the sea.

Likud holds 32 out of 160 seats in Israel's Knesset. In order to get a majority, Bibi had to form a coalition with a messianic group of religious parties, most of whom believe Israel is above politics. Some of Netanyahu's cabinet don't believe in human rights, modern state borders or sovereignty. They look to books like Exodus and Leviticus for inspiration.

State Security Minister, Ben Gvir, leads Otzma Yehudit, a Jewish supremacist party that translates as Jewish Power. More accurately, they're an anti-Arab party, founded with a mission to deport all Arabs from Israel - not unlike Geert Wilders in Holland, but without the libertarianism. Gvir reintroduced the death penalty for terrorism, but for non-Jews only.

The bill targets Arabs, protecting Jews. After all, Gvir is also on record saying he is proud of settler violence and attacks on Arabs. On the day the bill got passed, Gvir attended parliament wearing a noose lapel-pin. Afterwards, he had a little party. He had selfies taken with a noose cake his wife had lovingly made.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich believes there's no such thing as Arab Palestinians. In 2023, he got busted at a public event in Paris, speaking in front of a map of Greater Israel, territory that included including Jordan. The slip happened before October 7, leading many to later join the dots.

But that was then. Greater Israel actually extends from the Nile to the Euphrates, a Promised Land many in the current Israeli government feel "historically and spiritually" aligned to. In 2025, Bibi confessed that he shares this mission.

This is the failed democracy FD and the old boy stick their flags in. Strangely, both also support the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Go figure. Freeeedom, innit.

No, FD, I think all the Muslims and Jew haters want to see the Israeli military destroyed because it's the biggest threat to global stability after Vlad.

Bibi's hardly making friends and influencing people, now is he? In the US alone, 60% no longer support Israel.

And 80% of Dems, can you imagine? Many of them are Jews.

As for Aussie Jews, 64% of them think Israel's gone to the dogs. I'm surprised this figure's so low.

In America, it's higher. I saw a group of Hasidic Jews at a Gaza demonstration in New York. They know the score. Israelis have gone nuts, and they know it.

Israelis are Israelis, Jews are Jews. Most don't live in Israel. Most don't care about religion. Those who move to Israel to grab a piece of Arab land and fulfil some ancestral promise are deluded.

Jews used to try to be mensches - honest, hardworking, kind-hearted - a good bloke. Now Israelis are flooding the zone using bots on X.

Back in the mid 2000s, it was the Saudis. Their petrodollars were funding Wahabist ideology throughout the world. You'd see their nasty reactionary books in Malaysian and Indonesian airports. You'd see their DVDs in Islamic bookshops in Auburn and Bankstown.

They weren't into converting so much as they were into poisoning the minds of the moderates. Their creed led to the rise of ISIS and other hate. Ultimately, the Saudis weren't subdued by guns and bombs either. They were brought back by the power of greed.

Now the threat's coming from a minority of Jewish supremacists in Israel, and they have a military industrial complex on hand. The last thing we need is for Jews around the world to go the way of the Islamists and bunker down with the zealots. We don't need more oppressive, religious fervour. Fear always inspires hate.

But I'm curious. Why are you trying the old anti-Semitic ruse? I thought you were so over wacism and all into saying what you think and everything.

What happened to your love of Freeeeeedom?

Changed your mind?

It is for their own good.

Oh, I see! Poisoning the wells of Christian villages in Lebanon is for their own good.

Killing doctors and foreign aid workers is for their own good.

It certainly doesn't seem to be doing Israel much good. Even DL's telling everybody how stern he is with Bibi. Boy, he really gave him a piece of his mind, eh?

No, you're right, it must be for their own good. You said the same thing back in 2003, no?

If only we can teach these people some manners, you said. I must say, you've always been most consistent on this point.

Always absolutely never ever, eh?

Who it's currently bombing and occupying?

It is for their own good.

Oh, I see! Poisoning the wells of Christian villages in Lebanon is for their own good.

You said bombing and occupying, shifty paki gobber.

They are in 30th place, out of 167. Their score is 7.8, up from 7.3 20 years ago. A 'flawed democracy'. 8.0 and above is considered a full democracy.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Economist_Democracy_Index

We are #13, with a score of 8.9. The USA is #34, with a score of 7.7.

Right. So how is a flawed democracy supposed to be a beacon of freedom and democracy?

Nobody's trying to be like Israel, yes?

Or are they?

Yeah, wee paki gobber, why can't Israel just give in to Hamas, Hezbollah, Houtis and just let Iran nuke it. So dangerous and supremacist and wacist, all this push back against jihadis hellbent on wiping out Israel.

Most of the world aren't "Jew haters", though they do support UN resolutions re the UN's original 2-state proposition (UN res 181).

Obviously the UN should never have voted on that proposition UNTIL the machinery for its implementation was ready to go, and without either side being able to resort to war.

And what happens then? Peace breaks out in the middle east?

Iran is spending about a billion dollars a year funding terrorism, most of it directed at attacking Israel. But you think the Israeli military is the real problem?

The Muslims want to see the Israeli military destroyed because it keeps getting in the way of slaughtering Jews.
