So it was written down by settlers? A journal perhaps? If not, anyone alive from 1835 to tell us?

recorded 1845.

I believe from their page it was recorded in 2016 unless you have something earlier to show us. Or perhaps you believe everything people say on their web pages.

OK Thanks. Now show it was Australia wide.

Sounds more like a type of smoking ceremony.

It’s important we understand this . For the invoice.

So we had a welcome to country $700

As well as the smoking ceremony $1500

Was there any dancing involved?

Dancing is a additional cost.

That's pathetic.

' For the purposes of the Player Payment Rules, 50% of the payments the Club has given or applied to a playing coach, to a maximum of $20,000 is not a Player Payment and may be excluded from the calculation of the Club's Player Payments. For example, if a playing coach is paid $30,000, then $15,000 would not be a Player Payment and would not be included in the calculation of the Club's Player Payments. If a playing coach is paid $50,000, then $30,000 would be a Player Payment and be included in the calculation of the Club’s Allowable Player Payments.'.
https://play.afl/sites/default/files/2024-10/Player%20Payment%20Guidelines.pdf

'AFL senior coach salaries generally range from approximately $700,000 to $1 million, with some coaches earning up to $1.2 million or more. Assistant coach salaries average around $180,000. '

Firstly it’s nothing to do with what anyone else is paid.

Second according to custom if you read the wiki link.

Those welcoming people to country are also expected to feed those that are welcomed?

It’s interesting how important  authentic custom’s can change ?

Dancers are $300 each. If you want fries with that?

A Māori playing the didjeridu will be $500 extra.

It’s important to know how much tokenism costs compared to doing anything meaningful.

.

'In Melbourne, destroying or damaging council trees can lead to significant penalties. Depending on the nature of the damage and the applicable laws, fines can range from $2,000 to $198,000, and in some cases, imprisonment for up to six months may be imposed. Additionally, those responsible for illegal tree removal can face fines of up to $218,000 and a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.'

'The meaning of this is a hearty welcome. As the boughs on which they sit are from various trees, so they are welcome to every tree in the forest.'

Welcome to your own country $700

Smoking ceremony $1500

Dancers by 3 $900

Kiwi playing the dig $400

Accommodation, food , transportation $1600

It’s a good gig for half a hour  of  work? “ being allowed into our own country “ everyone has seen a million times before !

Would you like that in a large or medium welcome to country?

They also do weddings, parties, anything!

Pretty cheap when you think about it.

When a politician goes to a footy match.

Full days pay  $3,000+

Car to drive them there $500

Driver for car $1500

Corporate box to sit in $2000

Drinks $500

food $500

Security $5000

Hardly a relevant comparison.

From the quote: 'Each comes with fire in hand (always bark), which is supposed to purify the air - the women and children in one direction, and the men and youths in another. They are ushered in generally by some of an intermediate tribe, who are friends of both parties,....
Two fires are made, one for the males and the other for the females.'

I feel it’s human nature that we swing suddenly ( usually left) on a new concept but once the swing reaches it zenith the pendulum swings to the right and back and forth till it settles near the centre.

I’m not suggesting we have to do away with WTC just it’s meaningless use every day is making it meaningless.

Save it for significant  events, not the opening of a envelope.
