Meanwhile, whatever they brought on their shoes and any other exotic viruses/contaminants are going to infect the ecosystem (even in a small way). Another 100 boats making it to shore with illegals not going through proper channels will make a greater impact on the environment.

Therefore, illegal boat arrivals tend to make a threat to our ecosystem, even though the illegal boat arrivals of asylum seekers might have a better case to make as refugees than those that come by plane in the thousands.
