Each high-rise density commuter location-shops nuke sub will have housing for 135 nuclear families. There will hospital beds, fast food and strict gun controls. It's hoped to launch sub standard housing across the outback.

Yes. Yes it is.

Governments should be spending a lot more than that.

Especially Australia seeing as we're second lowest according to that graph.

Perhaps if they stopped spending so much money on things like useless submarines and pointless referendums and made sure big business paid it's proper share of tax then there would be more money for "social spending", especially affordable housing?

But, don't worry aqua... no need for you to stress and potentially pop a blood vessel... with the way our governments are currently culling the elderly and vulnerable with Covid I'm sure "social spending" will be on the way down already with the money being saved on pensions and healthcare costs, etc.

Is that just the federal government?

What is "general revenue assistance"?

One of my complaints is the amount the Federal
government spends on irregular, "incidental" things
that often go unnoticed by the wider public.

For example:  Budget papers have revealed the
$364.6 million cost of delivering the Voice
referendum, equal to $21 per eligible voter.

Seriously?

This compares with $21.6 million allocated in 2023–24
to extend the Indigenous Boarding Providers grants
program for rural and remote First Nations students
for an additional year. This extends the Closing the
Gap Outcomes and Evidence Fund by two years to
31 December 2026, which provides targeted grant
funding to Aboriginal Community Controlled
Organisations to deliver improved and co-designed
methods of service delivery for First Nations people.

—Anyone else notice the (somewhat ironical) funding disparity?

$364.6 million for the Voice referendum.

We're $1 trillion in debt and they continue to piss our money against the wall.

Labor are the worst Govt ever.

General revenue assistance is money paid by the Australian Government to the States and Territories and local government to spend on any purpose (also called ‘untied’ funding). This is distinct from funding provided by the Australian government to other levels of government for agreed specific purposes such as building hospitals, infrastructure or funding schools. This expenditure is largely payments of the goods and services tax, which is collected by the Commonwealth but transferred to the states and territories. General revenue assistance accounted for around 11.1 per cent of Government expenditure in 2019–20.

It is the cost of establishing Aboriginal separatism.

Er ...the $1 trillion debt was achieved under the previous Coalition government.

I think it is a commonly held belief that this money could have been spent on some direct action to resolve some genuine Aboriginal issue out there.

I guess we Great Unwashed are just plain stupid, eh?  No wonder the bastards never really want to rub shoulders with us racists... using such a term at the beginning was unforgivable.... you blew, it, Albo.... and I told you to stay way from politics of division, so what did you do?  Go straight for The Greatest Divide EVER!

That's Labor gone this time, and what are we left with?  Get your act together....

I wish I'd left this country fifty years ago to follow my then professor gf to England... beautiful, red-haired, intelligent as me.... we were a pair.... and I blew it by not following .......instead of living out here in the Wildest West.... and look what you've done to the joint?

FFS ............... kick my own arse ....

Not surprised that the former British Colony of Australia has now become a 51st State of the UsA.
Out of a Frying Pan and into a Fire?
Little wonder our style is just under the USA's in spending.

But hey, the Liberals did fork out a bit in packages for Covid Relief (like a Credit Card interest rate, now that the ALP are raking it all back in) for people, businesses and Corporations. Though QANTAS has a lot to answer for, let alone 'pay it back' with their huge profit.

Australia the 51st State of the USA.
Where Prime Ministers (of both Parties) sell us out to the USA at any reason - both to 'pay tribute' to the USA (protection money) and keep us weak as a possible future 'competitor'. Wasn't GST enough 'tribute' money to the Americans? Canada was the first to 'pay' that percentage for America.

Mind you. Charles is probably thinking it time to give Australia the flick and take his Union Jack off our Flag and all the rest. It's one thing looking after a Colony full of British descendants - but I don't think he and Britain want to look after a nation full of Darkies and Moslems with Asian nations (India the highest immigration) being the vast majority of immigrantion - the UK and NZ are nothing more than 'back door' entries for Asians/Indians to enter Australia. Reckon that only 10% of New Zealand immigrants are Kiwis (white).

This country might 'culturally' turn out opposite to the USA with ART for the rich and powerful and Politics for the Poor.
But it will still become a giant hellhole just like the USA: Canada=Upper Class, USA=Middle-Class, Mexico=Poor Class
Sahul:
Tasmania=Upper Class, Aust=Mid-Class, PNG=Poor Class

NZ is in Oceania. Might be best to move there now. Cheesy
