Former online friends of Erin Patterson have revealed new details about the reclusive mother-of-two, calling her “very smart” and revealing she likes true crime novels.

Ms Patterson, 48, served a beef wellington pie containing suspected death cap mushrooms at her home in Leongatha, in Victoria's Gippsland region on July 29.

Her former in-laws Gail and Don Patterson, Gail's sister Heather Wilkinson and her husband Ian Wilkinson were all at the lunch.

Gail and Don, 70, and Gail's sister Heather, 66, died after ingesting the toxic mushrooms while Ian, 68, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Oh he would have liked her then.

Continued from Opening Post ....

Her estranged husband Simon Patterson was allegedly supposed to join the family at the lunch but did not attend for unknown reasons.

As investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident, former friends of Ms Patterson have offered new insight into her life before the tragedy.

In a leaked Facebook message, Ms Patterson allegedly told one of her online friends about being “good at details”.

“I am very good at details, that’s why I’m good at proofreading etc.,” she allegedly wrote in the message, according to Daily Mail Australia.

“I’ve been editing the community magazine for two years now and I have to bring together articles by illiterate ***** and turn them into something legible.”

Another anonymous person claiming to be a friend of Ms Patterson provided more details about her life in an online forum which was shut down by site administrators.

The source claimed Ms Patterson had previously worked as an accountant and with the Department of Defence.

“She's meticulous and very smart," the person wrote.

“Her whole family are extremely smart people.”

The so-called "ex-friend" claimed to have met Ms Patterson online through a true crime group but never met up with her face-to-face.

“I think she was also into a lot of crime fiction. Like Agatha Christie,” the person claimed.

No charges have been filed against Ms Patterson following the three deaths but she is considered a person of interest in the tragedy which shocked the nation and made international headlines.

In the days following the poisonings, Victoria Police recovered a food dehydrator from a nearby tip in connection with the case.

Ms Patterson has admitted dumping the appliance there, but insists she bought the deadly mushrooms from local supermarkets and did not forage for death caps.
