I was both surprised and disgusted to read this headline on
today's News.com (ANOTHER Murdoch) site:
Transgender pride flag flies at Victorian Parliament.
Okay... having said that, I'm a great believer in a couple of old
saws: "Live and let live", and "What you do in your own bedroom
is none of my business".
I don't have any particular argument with transgender persons;
let them live their lives as they so choose.
But... and it's a
big but... if their lifestyle, their transgenderism itself,
and their own non-hetero-normative demands upon the wider society
begin to impinge negatively on that society, then I have to draw the
line.
There is
NO place at any/all state government buildings for flags
of this nature. The government must be impartial to sociopolitical
causes, as well as being
seen to be impartial.

Premier Daniel Andrews today revealed the trans pride flag will be
flown outside government offices (how many; where?) as a sign of
support. “There’s a new flag flying outside the offices of the
Victorian Government,” he said on Twitter. “Because we’ll always
respect you. And we’ll always have your back.” [

This is nothing more than
political virtue signalling by Andrews,
who's currently facing a barrage of negative criticism from the
electorate.
(BTW, I'm not trying to start another debate about
the virtues or otherwise of transgenderism per se.)
