Trans people are unhappy mentally ill people and that's why they have higher suicide rates.

Maybe Victoria should also fly the eating disorder flag, right next to the MAP flag.

And politicians would advocate for that if it became a significant vote-catching sociopolitical cause.

Actually, mental unwell kids are identifying as non binary as it's being offered as an explanation for their issues.

That of itself is not bad as most will grow out of it.
We just need to keep people like Mothra and Kat away from them who want to shove puberty blockers down their throats and cut their genitals off

Naive, much?

You'd need to suffer from debilitating arrested development rivalling Alzheimer's to believe that at your age.

So you disagree that our governments should be held to
impartiality?  That it shouldn't matter if they're particularly
skewed towards accepting transgenderism, or on the other
hand, totally against it?

And as a matter of interest, why have you resorted to an
insulting personal attack?  Why not instead offer some sort
of counterargument if you think I'm wrong?

Aside from being a rusted-on, what is the point of voting for a candidate if not to represent your sociopolitical or economic ideals?

Politicians are skewed toward accepting transgenderism - even playing the out-and-proud-in-principle card - because it's a cause that can get them (re)elected.

On the issue of sociopolitical causes motivating politicians, aren't we facing a referendum on a sociopolitical cause?

How can you not know this?

Data indicate that 82% of transgender individuals have considered killing themselves and 40% have attempted suicide, with suicidality highest among transgender youth. Using minority stress theory and the interpersonal theory of suicide, this study aims to better understand suicide risk among transgender youth. The present study examines the influence of intervenable risk factors: interpersonal and environmental microaggressions, internalized self-stigma, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and protective factors: school belonging, family support, and peer support on both lifetime suicide attempts and past 6-month suicidality in a sample of transgender youth (n = 372).

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32345113/

The suicide attempt rate among transgender persons ranges from 32% to 50% across the countries. Gender-based victimization, discrimination, bullying, violence, being rejected by the family, friends, and community; harassment by intimate partner, family members, police and public; discrimination and ill treatment at health-care system are the major risk factors that influence the suicidal behavior among transgender persons.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5178031/

The first peer-reviewed study of the health and wellbeing of transgender adult Australians paints a grim state of health.

Of the 928 participants, lifetime diagnosis of depression was reported in 73 per cent and anxiety in 67 per cent.

Most concerningly, 63 per cent reported previous self-harm and 43 per cent had attempted suicide. These statistics are many times higher than rates for the general Australian population.

Shockingly, 33 per cent reported discrimination from employment as a result of being trans, and the unemployment rate of 19 per cent was more than three times the national rate.

https://pursuit.unimelb.edu.au/articles/why-have-nearly-half-of-transgender-aust...

Around 1500 trans or gender diverse adults were surveyed about their suicidality over the last 12 months, as part of the larger 2020 Private Lives 3 national survey that tracks the health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer people.

A staggering two in three trans participants reported suicidal ideation, and one in 10 reported a suicide attempt. These are twice the rates reported by cisgender participants in the same survey (37.2% and 3.9%, respectively).

Both groups have substantially higher rates of suicidality than the general population. According to 2009 data, suicidal ideation was experienced by 2.3% or the population and suicide attempts by 0.4% of the population in the preceding 12 months.

I’m still waiting for a link to back up your original statement.

This is your original statement....yes?

While kids are still killing themselves because they fear persecution for being who they are”

When it comes to children .... as a mother .... I want to know exactly what’s going on.

I’ve clicked on your links and read the entire articles and I still can’t see where children are killing themselves because they fear persecution for being who they are. In fact ....your articles don’t cover children.

No, governments should represent their constituents.

Funny how you cry for impartiality when you don't like the cause they support, and applaud them when you do Cheesy

Not always:  Aussies Mark Latham,  Scott Morrison,
Katherine Deves,  Tony Abbott,   Tony Hanley,  Pauline Hanson:
The US's Ron DeSantis,  Kevin McCarthy,  Ted Cruz:
The UK's Rishi Sunak,  Rosie Duffield,   Boris Johnson.

All on the record as transphobic.

LOL... are you accusing me of being "geriatric"?  Well, I guess
at age 76 I have to put my hand up as an older person, but
your use of the pejorative term geriatric is a bit of a giveaway
as to the poor mental acumen you yourself so often display on
these forums.

I also think your claim that naivety is okay with teenagers is
incorrect.     As the future power-brokers and politicians and
lawmakers of the country, I think it's even more important in
2023 that they're suitably educated, politically and socially
aware, enlightened, and articulate.

Probably a lot more so than required in the early 1960s of
     my own  relatively innocent teenage-hood?

No, governments should represent their constituents...

Well, of course;  I agree.  Each and every one of them.

But that doesn't mean they can or should show partiality to any
one sector of those constituents.

At the moment we have transgender persons, Aboriginals,
homosexuals, immigrants, religionists, feminists, anarchists,
corporatists etc all banging on the doors of Parliament wanting
and expecting special consideration—as their right.

Well, that's 12 out of, what? Over 1000 politicians.

Please. It's not possible to be anything more than sociopolitically naive when you're a teenager.

Relative innocence? Relative to who? To people 3 times your age back then?

Relative innocence is nativity.
