I have been deleting large numbers of “new members” trying to join with emails ending in “.ru” and two guesses as to where they originate Grin

Starting maybe 2 weeks ago but growing tho still not near the number of russian bots I am seeing bots with email addresses ending in “.ua.” While I am sympathetic with the Ukranians I will not have bots on my fine forum, russian or Ukrainian or wherever!

My brief membership history doesn't tell me much about past members or
their jumping ship, or about their intellect, but I agree that the small
anti-vaxxer clique on this forum has all too frequently flooded threads with
total bullshit, with an unpreparedness to engage in any meaningful debate.

This clique (and we all know who they are!) consistently use foul language,
personal insults, open aggression, and puerile ad hominems in nearly
every comment they post. And yes—I know from long experience on
bulletin boards—that this will discourage the casual passerby from joining
and also, unfortunately, encourage many existing members in good standing
to leave.

These are a couple of the forum's rules:

Do not post personal criticism of other members. Do not respond to
personal criticism of yourself or other members.

If you participate in any kind of flame war you will be suspended...

So... my obvious question is why are those two rules never adhered to
by certain members, and why is there never any action by the
moderators in order to enforce them?

Any/all online forums are only as good as their moderators. Angry

Barely anything worthy of response on this site. My average post count would have doubled by now had more intelligent dialogue taken place here.
