2. Case has been thrown out.

3. The dhead DPP (from Mt Druitt) is being asked to resign for allowing the case to proceed to trial in the 1st place given there was no evidence.

The lead prosecutor on Bruce Lehrmann's rape trial is facing calls to resign over his decision to bring charges against the former Liberal party adviser - despite senior police claiming there was insufficient evidence to secure a conviction.

Leading Canberra lawyer Peter Woodhouse, the managing partner of Aulich lawyers, accused ACT Director of Public Prosecutions Shane Drumgold SC on Tuesday of pursuing charges related to the alleged rape of Brittany Higgins for 'media attention'.

Mr Woodhouse called for Mr Drumgold's resignation and urged the ACT's Integrity Commission to investigate after media company News Corp obtained diary entries from the most senior police officer on the case.

The diary entries, from ACT Police Manager of Criminal Investigations Detective Superintendent Scott Moller, expressed reservations about prosecuting Mr Lehrmann and concerns for Ms Higgins' mental health.

Mr Woodhouse told The Australian the commission 'needs to explore whether Mr Drumgold let his own thirst for media attention or own political affiliations cloud what is supposed to be his independent judgment in such matters'.

The top criminal lawyer suggested Mr Drumgold 'was attempting to pre-emptively cover his backside, knowing this fallout and the exposure of the rift between his office and ACT police was coming'.

During his press conference, the top prosecutor stood by his judgement that there had been reasonable prospects of securing a conviction against Mr Lehrmann.

However, Mr Woodhouse said it was 'abundantly clear' that his view isn't shared by 'anybody in the ACT legal system' including senior police officers.

'It appears the ACT system is irreparably broken and there is only one way to quickly fix it and to restore public faith in the criminal justice system in the ACT,' he said.

'Shane Drumgold must resign as ACT DPP.'

Before we learned about the new bloke, I felt the rape case was pretty tenuous but left about a 25% chance it was actually rape. I'll adjust that to almost zero now.

It seems Britt is just one of those people who are incompetent at life and make bad decision after bad decision. This new bloke is a smacking dropkick and we'll be reading about the train wreck in 2 years tops.

She will regret this marriage, just as she regretted hooking up with Bruce.

Not even CLOSE
The DPP closed the trial down, in the belief the trial was doing more harm to Ms Higgans' mental health - than a guilty verdict would benefit

The last I heard was that she was in a mental health facility after having a break-down

There will be a civil case, once she is ready to face it
I'm pretty sure this can be done without her taking the stand

* I'm not a fan of civil trials - for a number of reasons - but "California, here we come"
