Yes, Keens is pretty good.
Sprinkle it on my streak before tenderising them.
Really good.

yes - many curry powders put too much chili in it which
makes it so hot that you can only taste the chili.
Keen's is just right especially for a European palate.

KEENS - I had a look at the ingredients on the back of one a while ago.

From a very vague memory things like cummin, coriander, about 6 things maybe.

Course a 5 year old opened can of Keens from the back of the cupboard won't be the elixir of life.
Now, a NEW bottle ...............

Dinner tonight.
150 grams of Rump steak with an egg and mixed salad, dressing and cheese.
A generous amount of Worcestershire sauce was put on the steak.
Yummy.

The secret sauce:

...

https://delishably.com/sauces-preserves/The-Story-of-Worcestershire-Sauce

The Ingredients of Worcestershire Sauce

Of course, the exact recipe for the condiment is a secret known only to a privileged few. However, modern labelling rules require that the ingredients be listed. Here’s what the company says is in their brew: “Aromatic with garlic, tangy with distilled white vinegar & tamarind extract, spicy with chilli pepper extract and sweet with sugar and molasses.”

Others have reverse engineered the product and have detected everybody’s favourite pizza topping, anchovies, along with mysterious “natural flavours” and unspecified “spices.”

The flavour is what’s known as umami; this is a Japanese word that means “a pleasant savoury taste.” In The New Yorker, Heather Goldfield describes umami as “That deep, dark, meaty intensity that distinguishes seared beef, soy sauce, ripe tomato, Parmesan cheese, anchovies, and mushrooms, among other things. It hits the back of your throat and leaves you craving more.”

Oh YES !!
One of my fav lunches when I have worked hard around here.
Into a BIG stainless steel frying pan WITH a glass lid,
Tenderised room temp steak, onions, mushrooms.
Once cooked and rested, cut up the streak, put it all on well buttered bread.
Worcestershire sauce.

Back Deck, home brew beer  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Nice - I prefer to sear my steaks both sides then
turn the heat down until cooked to still pink in the middle.

I copped a load of Keens Curry in my gob if my mother heard me swear profanity.
I'm not a fan of curry meals.

Do you know about the ancient spice trade?
Sailors risked their lives on sailing ships to deliver spices
such as curry ingredients from the Indian and Asian regions
for sale in England and Europe.
Spices were worth gold.
Now -  $5 will buy you spice heaven.

I LOVE curry.

I recently discovered a wonderful curry powder.

Not too much chilli, and is very aromatic and flavoursome.

It's from ALDI, and it's called Stonemill Curry Powder (in a small 40g jar/bottle).

Ingredients: coriander seeds, sea salt, turmeric, cinnamon, black peppercorns, ginger, bay leaves, garlic, chilli, cloves, cardamon

...

VERY tasty!

Thanks - I'll try that.
I generally find that curry restaurants make it too hot so I welcome
low chili amounts in curry powder.

It's the same in French cooking -
you should add only enough herbs and spices to enhance the flavor -
not overwhelm the flavor.

My stuff arrives Wednesday—if nothing stuffs up like my iPhone not ringing. Damn what a bloody nuisance!

A proper fridge! A freezer! (will let both stand for 3 days before plugging in, let refrigerants etc settle to proper places.) My barista machine, BLISS!

My slow cooker—beef rendang with lots of spices cooked s l o w l y all afternoon, hmmmmm!

My mobile chopping board—extra working space!
