What is your favourite travel destination?

I was asked this recently.... and although all destinations are unique and educational in their own way....I found myself saying Langkawi.
Where’s that they asked. I said, south east Asia. Went there from a cruise from Singapore.
I explained about the sky bridge, and the 3D place there and how much we were surprised by these places out there in the middle of what seemed like nowhere, and totally enjoyed the experience.

There was one area in France - Barreme to Saint-Martin-d'Entraunes that was outstanding. Napolean had been through there. It skirts the Mercantour National Park

What is your favourite destination and why?

I've never been outside the country except on a cruise to New Caledonia in 1976.

Over the past 25 yrs my favourite places that I regularly went have been to Facing Island near Gladstone with family ..... because it's relaxing, so near yet so far away from hordes of people.

Beautiful beaches & wildlife... bit of fishing and crabbing.

And Stanage Bay which I haven't been to for nearly 3 years.

Stanage is another beautiful place... especially out amongst the islands off shore & up the estuary/Thirsty Sound. I used to go to fish & for a break from work.

But it is becoming more popular & has seen an increase in the number of people there. Sad

What is your favourite destination and why?

I saw a Movie about it, called The Way. Very emotional movie.

I watched a documentary recently about turtles dragging themselves in land to lay eggs ... and up to 200 eggs can hatch for each mother turtle! I was amazed! But not all make it to the water once they hatch.

Well I don’t think any of us have much choice of late with border closure etc.

I’ve been thinking of a favourite destination in Australia.... so far... as I haven’t been to Illuru or Tasmania yet.

But I loved doing a boat trip visit to, and then a helicopter flight over The Great Barrier Reef Qld.
It was extraordinary! So beautiful.

It was quite crowded in some of the towns but when out on the countryside I was often the only pilgrim in sight. It did become crowded in the last 100 k to Santiago as this is the minimum distance that must be walked to obtain a compostela certifying completion of the pilgrimage. Also I was walking over Easter and this is when many Spanish walk for a few days.

The process of over a month of walk, eat, sleep with no other distractions is an excellent way of putting things into perspective. I will go back again as soon as I am able.

Yes, a good movie but not quite the Camino as I experienced it. While I was quite happy to socialise in the evenings at the albergues I walked on my own apart from a few hours here and there. The 'Camino family' thing in the movie was a bit overdone I thought.

Carnarvon gorge in QLD is good.
Margaret River and Pemberton.

Bunya Mountains - QLD , Mt Baw Baw - Vic

The Noccundra hotel/motel might be closed !!!!!
