Please don't thank me. Effusive fawning and obeisance of disciples, mendicants, and foot-kissers embarrass me.

Ah yes, but the irony is he let covid in because he didn't want to ruffle any Chinese feathers during the trade negotiations.

At the time, of course, he excused his actions. Look, he said, if we didn't take the right steps and act when we did, we'd have had thousands of deaths from covid.

China have been fully open and transparent with us, he said. President Xi is a great guy. The numbers'll go down when the weather warms up (Xi had told him that one). Trump wasn't even listening to his own officials, he was getting his info from Chi-na.

Despite all that, he lost on the trade deals. Lost on the trade, covid and ultimately, the economy. China can legitimately say that they out-played Trump perfectly.

What did Trump say about his sale of the St Mortitz Hotel to Alan Bond in the 80s? You only get one Alan Bond in your life. Trump loved embellishing the story about how he stiffed Bond on the deal, adding millions each time he told it.

Let's hope for everybody's sake China only gets one Donald Trump in their life.
